This game is never coming out.
That article is misleading.
From Chris Roberts:
Star Citizen custom engine was built upon a light version of Cryengine, this i exactly what Lumberyard is.
It tooks 2 days to merge those core element and Star Citizen 2.6 plays better than ever. Hopefully they announced it with 2.6 coming out, otherwise all the trolls and gutter press, like your post suggest i'm afraid, would have make a story out of nothing for months.
Lumberyard is a slightly customized and upgraded Cryengine engine, bought by Amazon.
If you've any experience with Cryengine, this Screenshot should be enough. This is just copy-paste Cryengine environement:
To put things into perspective... CIG is almost the size of Crytek...
All this story is more like a business deal with Amazon than anything else
Sounds pretty good.
They did announce it but some of the gaming press ran with star citizen changes game engines those in the know have been correcting this information in the comments section really annoying pcgamer still haven't corrected their article or changed the name of said article http://www.pcgamer.com/star-citizen-switches-from-cryengine-to-amazons-lumberyard/ I roll my eyes at them big time
2.6 is freaking awesome!! and a timely reminder that I haven't touched Vandual swarm in ages lol time to get good again! 85x is such a fun little ship to fly around in glad I got one
Lol. It BETTER come out. They took a sh*t load of money from folk to develop it.
Sick trailer from a fan (the guy is a professional editer btw lol...)
my worst fears are happening, i think the game is really not coming out, after all these offices closing.
I don't really know what you are thinking but CryTek's situation doesn't affect CIG at all.
they aren;t even using cryengine anymore man.
They are still using cryengine. Thus a heavily modified one dubbed "StarEngine". They moved their assets to Lumberyard from Amazone (Still CryEngine, just more stuff to do), but Lumberyard and "StarEngine" are running the same version of CryEngine so the the "switch" was painless.
Some of you should read before commenting xD
lol Derek is still going on about Star Citizen... that is hilarious..
A screenshot i took earlier. No post-fx, straight screenshot from game in cinematic camera mode.
That is really nice.
They went past the $140M mark...and over 1.7M backers. That's $10M and 100,000 more backers in just a couple of months.
