nope. i just think its sad that someone would need permission from their sigificant other to buy something with the money that he worked for (this is all assuming op has a job and is using the money he earned from his job to buy the video card). :D

^When you're in a loving relationship, it doesn't just become "YOUR" money, you and your spouse are a team, what's yours is hers and vice versa. You have to begin compromising, and save up your spending money. Yep, I just said spending money!

Which is probably for the best (for me anyway), because the amount of random crap I would have bought without thinking of bills and other important priorities, we'd both be up sh1ts creek without a paddle right now.

When it comes down to it, I'm glad it's this way. She keeps me in order.

First congrats on the gpu, lovely card.
Second, it's sad..really sad. I'm in a relationship with a girl for about 3 years now, we live together so we think as one. But man i never asked my girlfriend for permission to buy something i like. I respect and love her but i ain't asking permission like i did when i was a kid, with my parents..lets be serious for the love of God..

OP, put the foot down man, she needs to respect you more and your needs. Seriously.

Not everyone is well off though and spenging money on a graphics card as opposed to bills during hard times should have the considerations of your significant other in mind.
Or if you share your spending money :p

Permission to buy by partners, wives etc is fine. It's a partnership.

I also have to seek permission to buy but that's ok. Because we pool our monies and work as a team I'll be mortgage free in a year and a half. Then BOOM, any tech I want will be mine.....muhahahahaha

Glad the OP got his card, makes a change to have a happy thread. Well chuffed for him, we all know that feeling. :D

Spending money as you wish without talking to your wife/partner whatever is just irresponsible, that's how people end up in huge consumer debt. Yeah I make 6 figures (barely), yeah my wife stays and home with our daughter, but guess what? She handles the finances and pays all the bills, so she knows exactly where we stand in our finances. When we have money left over each month(and we generally do), then we can decide what we want to spend our money on. April was a new set of couches, and May was my i5 3570K upgrade.

Oh, and besides the Mortgage, we have no consumer debt. That's how it's done. I support the OP all the way.

Congrats on the upgrade, I know how you feel. I was blown away when my GF said I could get a new GPU last week.

I thought I'd have to wait until August to upgrade.

Your CPU is definitely going to hold you back. You'd get 50% more performance with a CPU upgrade ( to an i5 or i7 ).

I went from a Q9450@3.6ghz to my current CPU and gained about 50% performance with my GTX480.

    Also, welcome to the forums.

More often than not, what's yours is hers, and what's hers is hers. If your okay with that, more power to you. A loving relationship is based on mutual respect and of course, love. Mutual respect does not include asking for permission to buy something with your own money. It also does not include automatically 'signing' over half your stuff and having to get 'permission' to enjoy it.
For someone to deny you something that you enjoy is not an act of love. It's an act of spite and control. Unless of course your an idiot and spend the baby's food money on new hardware. Then you have deeper problems than having a slow processor.
