I first heard this story on Opie & Anthony today. Yep, everybody's upset at Matt and Trey again. In the latest episode, Steve Irwin is shown at Satan's Haloween Party. The South Park creators have been blasted for hitting a new low by mocking Irwin so soon after his untimely death. The image of him with the sting ray still hanging out of his chest has sparked outrage amongst Steve's fans, as well as widdow Terry Irwin. Some have called for the episode not to be aired in Australia. The network that carries it will air it anyway though, likely in 2007. Since Southpark airs on a normal fall season outside of the US, the episode will likely air when it was intended to. Steve was joined in hell by other dead celebrities such as Princes Dianna and Hitler. So why is a good guy like Steve in hell? Any South Park fan can tell you that only Mormons go to heaven. Where was he supposed to go, Detroit? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/li...in_article_id=412911&in_page_id=1773&ito=1490 http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,20656589-5007200,00.html http://www.spscriptorium.com/ Irwin was also mocked in the 1999 episode "Prehistoric Iceman" as a unnamed Aussie crocodile hunter. He was killed in that episode by getting chopped up in a helicopter's rotor blades.
lol - Wow. Way to go South Park. Oh well at least Steve Irwin fans won't go out and burn down television stations, and media icons heh...
That's what South Park does best, mock and offend people. South Park is about the only toilet humor I'll watch for the simple reason they mock idiot celebrities and extremists so well. Steve Irwin is a natural target for Matt and Trey.
I dont really think they achieved much by adding him into the episode , it just seemed that it was added to cause people to whinge. It wasnt making a statement about anything but I guess its just out there to get attention. I'm not particually bothered but I think South Park is getting old. The only episode I have enjoyed this season is the World of Warcraft one , but only then becuase it delved into the realms of internet culture.
If you dont like it, dont watch it. Done. It was somewhat funny the way they ended the section of the show with him in it. The not having a costume thing (If you saw it)
meh it's a cartoon i already saw that episode and it was quite funny. matt and trey always cause controversey. now if you excuse me i have some acura cake to eat
I respect the man, but I don't give a damn what a couple guys animate. He's dead. So sad. Get over it. Mocking isn't good, but it doesn't affect your daily life. Move on.
Here's more on Terry's reaction http://uk.news.yahoo.com/29102006/364/irwin-s-widow-devastated-south-park-parody.html South Park like MAD before it has one vision; everyone is up for public spoofing. Here's the actual script from the scene. You be the judge. Satan:This is VIP. Don't just let anybody into my VIP area, okay? [the bouncer walks away and an elderly minion arrives] Frank Sinatra:Hey, Satan, you got a little problem. Satan:What? Frank Sinatra:Somebody showed up in a Crocodile Hunter costume. It's really offending some of the other guests. Satan: Ah jeez. [walks over to the offending guest, who happens to be none other than Steve Irwin, with a stingray attached to his chest. Steve looks around with a smile on his face. Satan arrives] Hey, uh, hi, listen, dude, ya know, the whole Crocodile Hunter thing? It... it's just a little soon, you know? I mean, he just dies a few weeks ago and... it's just not supercool and you gotta leave. Steve Irwin:But it's me, Satan. Steve Irwin. I am the Crocodile Hunter. Satan:[thinks a moment] Oh... oh, but then, dude, no costume. Sorry, you gotta go. [two bouncers come and escort him away] Steve Irwin:Wait! I thought we were friends! Satan:[watches Irwin leave, then] Oh hey, Sinatra! [walks away]
Yeah, TP and MS are just good at doing what they do; Making fun of everything and coming up with the most ridiculously stupid yet funny sh!t they can season after season. I mean aside from people and events, how many religions have they poked fun at?? Isaac Hayes (Chef) cashed many a paycheck participating in shows making fun of the Catholic and Jewish religions, but once they touched Scientology he quit! can you say hypocrite?
I didn't think it was funny but it is expected. It is what South Park does. They even poke fun at themselves during the segment by saying it is too soon.
South Park is a hoot. I don't get offended when they make fun of Christians because a lot of Christians are just like they are portrayed in SP. Matt and Trey are equal opportunity haters, no one or thing is safe.
Yes but they did it straight after a death, why not wait a couple of years so it settles down??? If i was his wife i would be suing ther asses off.
