I have xteme audio and complained to Creative about this issue. Here is their response...

    Dear Donald,

Thank you for contacting Creative Technical Support Services. I
appreciate your time and effort for making us aware of your concern and
giving us an opportunity to assist you.

Based from your email, I understand that you would like to know when
will the drivers be available for your X-Fi XtremeAudio that will work
with Windows 7. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused
    you.

We do not have applications or drivers that will work with the BETA
version of Windows 7. You may want to check back our support page for
these once the FULL release version of Windows 7 is out on the market.

Thank you again for visiting Creative Customer Support Services. I hope
the information provided was helpful. If you still require assistance,
please reply to this email with any previous correspondence to ensure
the quickest and most accurate service.

    Best Regards,

    Gau

So, I let them know how I felt in a return email...

Your response is entirely unacceptable. Your company should have done a
better job of anticipating the release of Windows 7 beta. Nvidia had a
Widows 7 update available the same day that Windows 7 was released.
If companies like Nvidia can liaison with MS, then your company ought to be
able to do so as well. I would have thought that you would have learned
your lesson with Vista when you also got caught "flat footed" and, for that
matter, never have come out with full featured Vista drivers for Xtreme
    Audio.

Your company needs to learn that your best marketing strategy is worthless
without a world class customer support strategy. For you to say that you
might get around to releasing a driver by the FULL release of Windows 7

strongly indicates that taking care of existing users is not a high priority
with Creative. Moreover, you should realize that the use of the upper case
FULL in your email is like SCREAMING and only serves to
    further anger me.

p.s. As a matter of courtesy, why not at least be up front about your lack
of interest in Windows 7 beta by posting some sort of disclaimer on your
    website.

daniel_k's actually quite a "sound" guy, who would help anyone if he could. On the very few times I spoke to him, he always seemed really nice.

He did great work providing Vista users with drivers and such, but his real act of heroism? Providing working fixes for Creative forum users. He must have been glued to Creative user forums for like 6 hours a day answering questions that nobody from Creative knew the answers to.

He really didn't know what trouble he would get in to, concerning Auzentech drivers. I think he just was trying to make everyone's movies and games sound better. He doesn't seem at all malicous, unless you're a soundcard manufacturer selling hardware sound cards that only run in software emulation modes.

He even (indirectly) provided a list of Creative entries for Guru3D Driver Sweeper, when Vista first came out....

So another one on the support for daniel_k team.

Oh, and concerning the Audigy in W7, drivers 2.18.000x work fine (better than Vista at least). Forget the THX apps, the Surround mixer and MediaSource. All Creative programs plain suck suck suck! Less Creative software = Less bugs!

Sure, the guy is like robin hood. It is all great when you are on the Creative end but when he started telling CL customer to start using Auzentech drivers to get DDL on their cards with his cracks he crossed the line. This brought Dolby into it and they are extremely tough at protecting what they deem is theirs. Auzen customers do not own the code we only have a license to use it. Which can be revoked..

Auzentech had to institute a registration process which hurt their customers and their overall fan base. Nobody wants to go through all that just to download drivers but when it comes between that or losing features we paid for I would rather register.

I am all for the guy modifying CL drivers etc, However when he started stealing Dolby property by using Auzentech driver he lost alot of the Robin Hood thing he had going on. Atleast as fas as I was concerned.

In the end though, if it whipped CL into shape and showed them they have to up their game then it is all good.

WoW you give him a lot of credit, I didn't even see him nearly as noble as Robin Hood.

Yes he helps a lot but for the DDL mess he created I don't think I'll ever be able to not dislike him.

just tried them for XP with my prelude and for the first time I can see DTS on the Z5500's, but the sound is no good. the signal skips every 4 or 5 seconds. everything else works great. I just miss the prelude volume icon on the system tray, either for W7 or XP.

Tried these drivers and had big problems with sound, crackling and skipping, so using PAX PCI XFI OS V6.30 once again with no problems (in windows 7)

I have a 5.1 speaker system and an X-Fi Extreme music sound card.
On Windows 7, I would only get 2.1 sound with the latest Vista drivers from Creative.
Creative has not released any drivers for Windows 7.

With these drivers from this guy, my 5.1 sound is back on Windows 7 and these are what I am using now.
I am glad he released these.

    So..
What makes you better then Creative by flaming a guy making it possible for others to use the DDL support from the Auzentech drivers?

I got one of those Prelude's, but that does not make me being cheap and flaming someone to share something provided with a driver.

I bought the Prelude for its better components and exchangeable opamps.

Legal or not, that is another discussion.
