Nope, unlike you, I do not walk around with a "race card" in my pocket either.

You should have never attended that Al Gore seminar.

    1) buy a gold or platinum PSU

    2) if you want to do crypto buy a solar panel and inverter and run it off of the grid if you live in the western US
it is cheaper than buying some scalped gpus and there's a butt-ton on Amazon

    3) Don't be a hypocrite

    4) and keep your strange politics to yourself

    RE:

    Don't be a hypocrite.

Over the last 20 years I have bought and sold 200,000 tons of BIOMASS recycling by product.
This 200,000 tons represents 20,000,000 tons of renewable BIOMASS that was burned to make electricity. 10 to one burn to ash ratio.

So....... go ahead tell me about the 50 watts of energy you are going to save following these regulations and how you are so morally and intellectually superior.

The hypocrites are the people who think that the mere appearance of WANTING to make a difference is the same thing as actually achieving a positive result.

Around my area, people virtue signal by placing signs on their lawn saying "We believe in Science"

    WOW. Congratulations !!!

The question is never if science exists, the question is how you intend to apply it to society.
THAT IS INDEED A POLITICAL QUESTION.

Many, Many societies believe in science.
The Chinese are using facial recognition and intensive contact management to repress and some say even commit ethnic / religious eradications.
(not really genocide, but the mass eradication of history, culture and religious freedom)
They REALLY REALLY believe in applying science.

So, there is no way to separate the expansion of technology and socialist controls....the two have always been closely linked.

If you think otherwise, you have no understanding of history and politics.
But since you have no comprehension of State run(established, regulated, and controlled down to the rates they charge, the areas they sell into and the technology they may or may not use to produce electricity) monopolies and the history of Utilities being such....I guess it stands to reason.

I love how I can't say frack on the forum, or calling someone an idiot gets me banned but you have literal white supremacist talking points like the Great Replacement and full on science denial going on in this thread and it's just cool.

Like what the frack does this have to do with anything? What is the point you're even trying to make?

What the frack are you talking about? The other people in this thread are literally saying the science is wrong and it's just summer, we aren't even at the political question. You just keep posting crap that isn't even engaging with the conversation that's happening. I literally think you jerk off to your own posts

I have been responding directly to tunejunky. My posts have been exactly on topic.

You just keep posting crap that isn't even engaging with the conversation that's happening.

Sorry that you do not see the connections. As I mentioned in my first post, I have followed the connections for the last 50 years.
Many people spend their time looking at the minutia of a topic without looking at the long-term ramifications.

Yeah, to you it might just be simple expansion of state control to enforce energy savings. HEY...ALL GOOD.

You add up all those small expansions of state control and your willingness to turn over your individual rights to state control....and in not too many years you end up living under TOTAL state control.

I will dead when it happens, but when you find yourself living under total surveillance, constant monitoring of you energy use, your travel, your purchases, your recreation.....all in the name of "saving the environment."

Perhaps you will remember my warning.

oh my god you're right in 1987 we passed legislation requiring air conditioners to be 10 SEER and now we're doing it to power supplies!! what's next, airplanes? space heaters? cell phones? cars?

my god the tsunami is coming, literally. There's just waves and waves of regulations that will keep flowing until we're practically inundated with them. their waterlogged brains dont realize this is going to engulf other areas and wash away their precious society with the constant spending outflows and slush funds. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Well, when it rains it pours, i guess, thanks for the clarity, just trying to keep my head above water. time for me to runoff and get back to work.

    Since you asked;
From 1970 to 1980 Total US debt at a % of GDP ran around 40%.

    Today it is above 128%

    https://www.theglobaleconomy.com/USA/Government_debt/

So, yeah a little here and a little there....it adds up over time.
When does it reach a tipping point? When does the value of the dollar suddenly go into hyper inflation?

Your guess is as good as mine. But another 5 trillion added to our national debt in the next few years ???

Many think that expansion of debt can go on forever...that there is no gravity.
Well, I believe in science, and history....and economic science says that no society has ever existed that has maintained debt ratios expanding to multiples of GDP.

Just because you haven't seen something in your lifetime, doesn't mean it hasn't happened multiple times in history.

    RE CARS

You know of course the story about how the F150 became the best selling vehicle in the US for the last dozen years right? OH WAIT....39 years 42 years? depends on whose doing the counting I guess.
    https://www.mlive.com/news/2019/01/...t-selling-vehicle-for-42nd-straight-year.html

When were those regulations put in place again?
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_average_fuel_economy

The fact that strict CAFE standards forced car companies to produce smaller and smaller cars, with weaker and weaker engines.
The fact that light trucks...a product that barely existed at the time....allowed people to transition to BIGGER, and BIGGER vehicles to avoid the regulations.

This is all generally know, but hey looked it up for your.
    https://www.statista.com/statistics/199980/us-truck-sales-since-1951/

So light truck went from 2 million to 12 million units sold per year.
Every year for the last 20, the majority of Americans voted with their wallets and purchased light trucks and SUV.....all while claiming to be concerned about global warming and the environment.

So, were those CAFE standards a success or failure?
Individual car gas mileage rating went up for sure....at the same time sedans and small car sales shrank.
So for the last 20 years, light trucks and SUV sales have totally dominated vehicle sales in the US.
There was an article recently that compared the exterior dimensions to the current US FULL SIZED TRUCK to a WWII light tank.

yeah, those regulations were a tremendous success.
Government micromanagement of society has such a long track record of success.

thats what happens when you fund multiple armed conflicts and don't jack up corporate taxes to pay for it while maintaining healthy infrastructure and service spending.

Well, we find a point of agreement.
The problem is the never ending expansion of government, AND an unwillingness to pay for it.
The debt expanded across all administrations, Republican, and Democratic....with and without congress being in the same party.

You can either raise revenue and pay for the never ending expansion of government....OR take a look at if GOVERNMENT really needs to be that large and intrusive.

I don't see the current administration paying for the spending any more than the last.

why not just have a cap for electricity usage per household (depending on number of ppl living) per month? and stiff penalties for those that exceed?

See, this is why this about politics, not technology and not science.
What do you set the cap based on? Why?
    https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/EG.USE.ELEC.KH.PC

Quick look at the worlds highest populations.
    India = 800
    China= 3927
    US = 12994

What is a reasonable electricity usage per capita?
    800? 4000?, 14000?

average of all the worlds electricity power divided by the world's population?

By and by Norway comes in at 23,000
    And Iceland at 53,000

These number are all over the map according to what year is most accurate.
But I am willing to bet as the very high usage of electric cars increase in NORWAY....their per capita electricity consumption has not gone down.

So now you are going to cap the entire energy consumption per person in the US by law.

How again will people switch to electric cars 100% by the year 2030 ????????

We had electricity in our rent - then we started to pay it ourself and our bill more than halved. Now under 4000 - and in Finland, heated by electricity! Air-source heat pump did lower by 10% at least.

"and none of it relevant to "make it" to the next day", I made a comment based on the original title but as Steve from Nexus pointed out people had created articles with misleading or incorrect titles but now the article has a more relevant title.

do i need a gun permit ... for this new ''war on pollution'' american fairy tale
we couldn't pollute the earth if we lived a million years
seen an actual person who works in the field of pollution and studied what affects it and if we are the cause and all that ... ,
guess what he said after 40 years of studying the actual science behind all of it , that we don't even come close and NEVER will , to the pollution the earth itself produces from volcanos alone
the earth will be here long after we're gone and will ''recover'' the little pollution we did to it in no time , don't you worry about that
anybody thinking that changing every car to electric is going to change anything , needs to check himself and take a drive to the nearest industry park , see what they spew out , after seeing that people really think an electric car is going to ''help the environment'' ?
it's like people are standing in the sea and trying to make it yellow

I dont think the cars themselves are the issue....more the production and the dead batteries could have the bigger impact on the enviroment

You don't have to work "in the field of pollution" to see that .36 gigatons is less than 32. Do you guys even do basic research? It's embarrassing at this point.

What do you even do with this, the guy thinks its impossible to pollute the earth while obviously suffering the effects of lead inhalation no doubt as a result of pollution
