Man you speak in riddles half the time, I read through your entire post and reach the end still not knowing what you meant to say. Dude. Drop the flowery language and the penchant for poetry, you're not Keats and this isn't the literature forum :p just say what you want to say man :p

    @noisiv

I saw a gpu-z screenshot showing 1.08v for 1288mhz though so maybe that curve had been modified already

Thank you Eclap. This is the purest truth spoken about the 480.

This is exactly what I expect to see from the 480.

This gpu is a godsend(used losely as well) for the mid range not not the enthusiast.

This is where Nvidia has sucked and kinda said screw you too anyone who couldnt afford a $300+ gpu.

AMD users will have to wait for Vega for their enthusiast gpu.

If its stock clocked 1288mhz it should probably hit 1500mhz. Thats like 10% more performance from 480. I just hope HH did got a good overclocker sample in his review.

Instead of taking Voltage as bad or good. I took those values.
Well, their source is questionable as there is no confirmation if they are default voltages on default clock.

But still, regressive function with very high precision shows:
    1300MHz @ 1.191V
    1350MHz @ 1.239V
    1400MHz @ 1.283V
    1450MHz @ 1.323V

When I removed that 2nd point from right which does not fit (1235MHz @ 1.137V):
    1300MHz @ 1.183V
    1350MHz @ 1.228V
    1400MHz @ 1.268V
    1450MHz @ 1.304V
    1500MHz @ 1.335V

If those values on image are real and are close to minimum required voltages, I'll say there is not big OC headroom unless it can survive a lot of Volts.
Only ones who state that RX-480 is going to be overkill are those claiming that they are debunking it.
But in reality. Still not really empirical source of information been mentioned.

Its gonna die quickly at 1.3v.

The gpu-z screenshot I saw showed 1.08v at 1288 which sounds more realistic

Why do you think it will die at 1.3? My 280X is running 1.25 - 1.3v 1180mhz from start, still alive.

He knows. I made approximation and model. That stands fro theory.
But he made statement. That means he knows.

Yes, I do know it will die quickly at 1.3v...

    Undying. This isn't 28nm planar. This is 20nm finfet. 1.3v is like.1.5v on 28nm..

@fox what data did you use, and what model did you apply?

Nvm you used the one I posted

Clearly some do not. I can definitely name at least one person. :nerd:

He likely just wanted to show the max temperature and max clock speed. Max fan RPM would have been rather important though, since he did put max temp.

The card is a 200$ card and is offering fantastic performance for the price. Neither I understand why its being compared to cards twice its price, why not see it as a card in itself. Any neutral PC gamer would see the benefit of this price:performance card, and not get in NVIDIA's pants and pleasure them till its sore.

    Thats the nvidiot way.

Anyone who isnt a fanboy will see the card for what it is.

Some amd fanboys are also making the 480 to be way bigger then it is.

yes you are right, you have to agree though, that there is a difference between hyping some potentially faked screenshots / preleaked information that seems to be true
compared to badmouthing everything about this card and how "amd can't deliver the card, the card will overheat, the cooler is ugly, the card is ugly, it won't beat a 980Ti, even a 970 is better in some cases, etc, etc...)

there is a difference in those two.

the first thing is getting hyped and enthusiastic about a release (sometimes overhyped sometimes not). the second is destructive nature of a (probably jealous) individual.
(those guys that run over the sand castles others built and laugh afterwards)

Overhyping AMD products lately have its meaning. People are waiting for that "god sent" GPU than will bring AMD/ATI the old fame.

I cant even imagine what will happen when Vega start showing up. People will flip out.

Meh, the over hyping is universal, there's really no need to draw distinction between amd and nvidia fanboys because they are saying the same things, with the same absence of logic, only with different subjects.

Remember when they announced gtx 1080 and immediately people started claiming 2500mhz on air and **** like that? Meh. Same ****, different subject

Having similar 390x peformance with less watts and less heat and 100 bucks cheaper is a great achievement.
Comparing this with 980ti or fury is just dumb and unrealistic.

It really isn't unrealistic. Fury will certainly have more raw compute than the 480, but it should be outperformed where geometry bottlenecks arise. As for 980ti, having the 480 get close to a stock 980ti would not be unrealistic at all, stock though, not OC; a stock 980ti is like 13% faster than a 390x in terms of shaders, and the 480 promises lifted geometry limitations, with a slight overclock it should match it in theory, if it does not then something is sub-optimal, be it memory bandwidth bottleneck or something else

There are rumors about PC Devil 13 card.
Depending on Price, that may be interesting card for some too.

Edit: And btw. some of those 'leaked' GPUz pictures show 32ROPs, so maybe RX-470 will have exact same count of stuff like r9-380(x).

I would really like 1:1 clock and 1:1 block comparison.

you need 480 cfx to match a 980ti at 1350mhz in Fire mark. I don't think overclocking will yield 100% performance increase. Not sure why you still think it can.

Its funny how you have the need to constantly repeating your 980ti superiority to this card. You payed 500Eur for that card man.

Fox didnt even once said how his Fury X is beating 480 becouse it makes no sense.
