Yeah, not many people buy 30" 1440p monitors, they tend to go for 32" 4k. Still, his argument of 1440p and 4k are bogus is nonsense. Higher resolution in general offers more PPI hence better IQ. There's no two ways about it.

    Just for argument's sake...

    1080p 23" - 96 PPI
    1080p 24" - 92 PPI
    1440p 27" - 109 PPI
    1440p 30" - 98 PPI

Cheers for the "warning". Eye sight has nothing to do with the fact that higher resolutions offer better IQ.

It's hard to judge like that... multiplayer game, different maps etc

From what I've seen that rig is 10% faster than mine in Overwatch (stock 290). Same settings, Nepal map.
And his rig is slightly slower in GTAV, with deeper minimums , no doubt due to slower CPU.

Aye, that's the thing. If I'd buy, say, a 4K display I wouldn't buy anything that's larger than 27". I want to take advantage of that higher PPI, not to gain more space (although now that I have more room I wouldn't mind having 27" display now - currently using 23").

If that ROP amount is true then it's a disappointment since decently overclocked GTX 970 has 2x higher pixel fillrate. Probably not a big deal in 1080p but it sure isn't optimal for anything higher.

I think this is the 480 I will get.
    Love the simple backplate.
And XFX warranty is awesome as well.
    Maybe 2.

Can I ask why you're buying a 480 when you have a 970? Just curious.

It's a good question, unless they were going for 2. Then that's an entirely different kettle of fish :D

What part of the analysis it's interesting? They said DOOM averaged 100, instead it seems to average 80-85

    I actually had a Fury X on June 21.
    This 970 was my friends.
He wanted my fury x, so I sold it to him plus his 970.
    Using the 970 till I get a 480 8GB.

I have a freesync monitor. And the difference is quite noticeable for me not having it with the 970.

Its only till Vega comes out. Ill get the Fury X successor then in OCT-NOV.

    Im selling the 970 in a pc with an i5 4460@ 3.4ghz 8GB DDR3 1600 as I dont need 4 full gaming rigs anymore.

    Arent you at 1440P?

Im at 1080p ( 2560x1080). 29inch ultrawide. And even my R9 280 3Gb does quite well on this res in 2016 so I feel the RX 480 will do quite well for me, and have better DX12 support as well.

Speaking of DX12 support, is Polaris 12_1 now ? I remember them saying it would get hardware CR but I never heard about it again
