Yes, you were right ... I had forced 4 pipelines mode...

patching 8062 with SoftFireGL and forcing X2 capabilities I finally have 8 pipelines active...Maya runs fine but rendered viewport speed in Rhinoceros is very poor... it was much faster with Catalyst 4.12 drivers patched from www.techpowerup.com.

do you have it set to OpenGL in the Display, and OpenGL sections of the Options.

Make sure only the OpenGL it is also set to Hardware Acceleration.

    Lets see some SpecViewPrefs...

Yes you are right. 3DSMax Loves DirectX and from every card i tried i find it faster to use DirectX than OpenGL.

On a side note, i found that the OpenGL Maximum Driver for 3DSmax 6 to me a tad better than DirectX.. BUt you should try both unless you are using MAx4 then use DirectX lol.

    I hope this is helps

NO offense but when I was using the 45.32 drivers with my 5800U on a lesser or equal system to yours my 7.1 scores blew the doors off of those X2 score so I can't imagine how much better they wer eover the 5900XT...

Did the 5900's not convert perfectly???

5800U 500/1000 to >FX2000...ppl always speculated more like a 2500 cause of the core/mem speeds of the Ultra. I also don't think your scores compare to FX3000 scores at spec with a whole host of different rated machines...

    Run All Summary

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\3DSMAX\SUMMARY.TXT
    3dsmax-02 Weighted Geometric Mean = 31.12

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\DRV\SUMMARY.TXT
    drv-09 Weighted Geometric Mean = 176.1

My 5900XT isn't a 5900Ultra... Clock rates Mem&GPU are way off of Ultra Speeds.. And mine came with ****ty memory without heatsinks.

I would think a FX2000 would be better than an underclocked FX3000

Is that the scores of a real fx3000? If so, drivers also increase proformance... there is even a noticeable difference in 66.93->70.41 so you must imagine the difference from 45.28->70.41 or whatever

That was ran on a P4 system 6 months ago using the best drivers that worked then...the 45.32's....

It is a Inno3d 5800U just soft modded using the guide I found here.

I ran some spec 8 scores back in Sept once I got a cable modem and could download the beast of a program.....My scores were running a little bit better then most of the 5900's with the same 45.32 drivers then. Maybe my system translates better, but when I dropped that card in my AMD system ( I never quadro'd it) but as a base 5800U my scores were better with my new AMD system....So I could possibly score even higher with my current setup...

For now though I have a BFG 6800 OC I quadro'd and wih a littel OC 392/850 versus stock 350/700 and with 71.24 drivers I blow the doors off of most all of the systems listed at spec for 8.01 scores

    Here is my latest

    Run All Summary (8 x 330HTT for 2640 w/ 520-550 ddr)

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\3DSMAX\SUMMARY.TXT
    3dsmax-03 Weighted Geometric Mean = 40.98

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\CATIA\SUMMARY.TXT
    catia-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 33.21

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\ENSIGHT\SUMMARY.TXT
    ensight-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 20.87

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\LIGHT\SUMMARY.TXT
    light-07 Weighted Geometric Mean = 28.04

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\MAYA\SUMMARY.TXT
    maya-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 67.33

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\PROE\SUMMARY.TXT
    proe-03 Weighted Geometric Mean = 52.23

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\SW\SUMMARY.TXT
    sw-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 27.29

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\UGS\SUMMARY.TXT
    ugs-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 39.16

NU....I couldn't get the 4 extra pipes to enable without artifacts, but I got the extra vertex....so 12x1,6vp

I also can reliably OC it to 392/850.....

I am happy with it cause I paid like 245.00 shipped ( came with Far Cry and Doom3...I dont really game!!!) for it and the BFG 6800 OC (this model) is pretty sought after and out of stock most everywhere.

Little pissed that the pure video does not work right (Nvidia sucks!!), but it was always intended for this prupose alone....

Biggest gains in spec came not with memory increases but core increases....It did like system DDR and FSB speed increase though...

Hey what voltage are you using for your CPU? also are you using the stock heatsink and fan??? What kind of memory also... Thats one nice overclock for you AMD

I am currently using 1.57v on my Neo 2 PLat. mobo...I only need 1.54v when I ws running geil sticks that I had to run at 390ddr cause my fsb was so high I had to use the 133 divider.

I am using GSkill PC4400 DDR capable of running 550ddr atcas 2.5,3,3,7. I got a bad stick that needs to be rma'd so I can only run 520ish ddr with cas 2.5,4,4,10 settings...

I can do 2.7ghz with 1.62v but that is more then I want to go for vcore....

I used stock hsf at first (had borrowed it) and my max temp was 58c under load....I got a TT Venus 12 with adjustable fan and now at similar 3400-3600 rpm 80mm fan I run 32c idle and load at 50c....

330 Fsb is pretty phenomenal considering I haven't even messed with the NB chipset!!! 14 hours of prime testing!!! 10 complete passes of memtest with individual 100 passes in test #5 and #6.

I hope to be running 1:1 ratio at 290fsb when I get my stick back....

It is a sckt 939 pin Winchester 3000+...

That is not too shabby of an oc on a newcastle....

I can do default vcore at 2.5ghz.......week 36, 2004 cpu....waiting for week 1, 2005 chips then I am going to buy another and try for higher!!!

May get a 3200+ cause I dont want to be limited by the fsb. 10x multipliershould cover me to 3ghz with a very well tested 300fsb on my board....

    mobile 8.062 drivers from ibm

yes! it is no necessary to patch the atioglgl.dll with those drivers, you need only use SoftFireGL w2k.rts. After the patch Glinfo report the correct version og firegl!
the problem is that if you patch the mobile drivers they become a desktop version!

how to modify the rt script to work properly with a mobility version of an ati card?

    does anybody help this tweak?
    thank!

I am from Italy and a guy in an italian forum made some interesting tests on this.
    I have the Radeon 9600 Pro -> in T2
I have made the procedure of Lord Banshee (SoftfireGl 8.062
drivers), is OK, but i have the problem whit install the CPanel FireGL.
    I don't patch the file setup.inx whit SoftFireGL w2k.rts
    The error is:
    C:\ATI\FireGL 8062\CPanel
Browsing for file setup.inx... selected unknown version, 157082 bytes
Using native patch installation mode 0
WARNING: Certified patch script not found, using common patch script...
ERROR: Target sequence must be replaced 1 time(s)!
    49 53 4c 49 73 46 47 4c 43 61 72 64

I have install the original CPanel (after then install driver FireGL 8.062 ) but I don't see the tab 3D; OPGL;Direct3D
    ???? (I don't found the .ini file within ;Direct3D)

The tabs are different for the FireGL than the Radeon. You don't have the ability to mess with the OPGL setting or the Direct3D setting(I think, i am not at home).

I'll see what i did when i get home tonight for the CPANEL. But i don't remember having a problem with it.
