    so what exactly is your problem ?

    did the patchscript work without giving any error ?

    have you modded the .inf file of your driver ? you need to add your device id to the driver file like this

    Code:
    "ATI FireGL V7300" = ati2mtag_R520GL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_[B]710E[/B]
    "ATI FireGL V7300 Secondary" = ati2mtag_R520GL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_[B]712E[/B]
    check the bold letters ... there should the device id´s for your first and secondary adapter, instead of the device id´s of the fireglv7300.

    and btw. you just need to add your device id in the script once, in your case the dst8_0

    I got my HD3870 to run at V7700
    I ran specviewperf 9 (reason I chose 9 because that's what nvidia uses on their site to list all their quadro cards and that can give me some sort of idea where my FireGL is)

    maya-02 Weighted Geometric Mean = 239.7
    sw-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 89.58

    I will install 10 when I have time and redo the test, but to me it seems like it's working fine.

    yep, modified the inf file (7249 instead of the 710E/712E) and patch script just told me its using common patch script because of i dont know (i remember that happened with the working 293 driver as well). however it finished successfully. the problem is that alias studio tells me i dont have AA for hardware shading and it has some problems showing wireframe... also in the windows display properties there is nothing more to adjust, like i had in the 293 driver...

    It is probably not possible (as I couldn't find anything about it) but has anyone even try to see if you can softmod 2 HD3870 into V7700 and whether they can be crossfired afterwards ?

    New driver

    Hi, I've installed the new FireGl driver 8.453 with my HD3870.
    the MAYA selection lag is gone but CCC doesn't start so I have installed the lastest FireGL driver with the previous version of Catalyst control Center and it works.
    Has anybody got running the last version of CCC?

    Hi. I guess I'm the lucky one, because I still have the Maya selection lag...
    I'm using Maya 2008 in Windows XP64 and I installed the patched FireGL driver 8.453.1.
    I was previously running a non-FireGL driver (8.44) and uninstalled it and CCC.
    I think I did it right because my maya-02 Weighted Geometric Mean is 259 in SPECViewperf10.
    Anyone else having the same problem? Any tips?
    Thanks in advance.

    that's strange... I definitely have no selection lag anymore

    maybe it's because I still have the old "mitigation fix" still in place:
    http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=2462114&postcount=103
    "you can put the line: "MAYA_NO_VERTEX_ARRAY_SELECT = 1" in Maya.env file and selection will be faster"

    by the way: "no selection lag" means 2 or 3 seconds of lag in hand.ma after clicking anywhere, which is what you get using nvidia cards

    help please, hd3870->v7700

    @kilema (or anyone else)
    Can you please post your patch script fo riva tuner?? Not getting the picture, changing the device id (9501 to 1095??).

    In short terms, using instructions from thread http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=2638168&postcount=4, but no HD 3870 to select.

    Advice please.

    Thanks in advance

    and then I changed that to
    force RV630GL V7700 capabilities (HD 3870)
    and
    05 94 to 01 95

    and then edit CA_63074.inf (up 1 level from the sys file)
    "ATI FireGL V7700" = ati2mtag_RV630GL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9511
    change 9511 to 9501

    Then you can rivatuner patch the sys file and then install driver manually and select that INF file you modified.

    Yes, to all the pros out there, it seems like I am doing a hell more things than needed to get it to work. But because I am a noob in softFireGL mod, I want to make sure I know what I am doing so I am not guessing around.

    @klingon72
    The text is just to show, it has no meaning.. you can even put
    force (YOU TO SHUT UP) excuse my language :)
    you just have to change the corresponding line to the HARDWARE ID of the card
    same to the INF file (pick any of them without secondary and put HARDWARE ID)
    I picked V7700 because according to , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_ATI_graphics_processing_unitsV7700 is using the same core as HD3870.

    Hmmm...the selection bug is really annoying. Backface culling can help, but often I select the wrong stuff anyway. How hard can it be to program a working driver ffs?!

    I definitely prefer slightly lower fps with higher reliability and less glitches: there's no point on going back to old drivers, even if these new ones are slower in fps terms

    Has there been any info on the subject from ATI? Are they working on a fix? And NormanBates are you doing lots of modelling work in Maya? I've tried to use the card for an hour but it seemed too frustrating to even try and put my old Geforce back in. Are there any tricks apart from turning Backface Culling on more often?
