The only s939 x2 cpu i can get is the x2 4800+. But that's ok since i'm not really into overclocking.
I thought overclocking reduced the life of the processors?

prob does a bit, but how long are planning to keep your processor? even overclocked it would still last past the end of it's useful life..

Example I have an Athlon XP which was overclocked for about two years and it stilll goes well. Just plays movies now in the lounge.

Anyway the Toledos OC well because if i remember right, they're actually just Opty's with half the cache disabled and a reduced clock speed. The manchesters I believe were the later revision.

Can't you get a second hand CPU?

EDIT: I just saw your OP, my answer to that post is: You won't know what hit you. ;)

Can't link directly to it, but this place has the x2 3800 for just under €60

Thanks but i'm not allowed to buy stuff from the internet. Besides an x2 4800+ is ideal for me because i don't overclock.

So id be right in saying the performance we are seeing now with the demo will increase with retail? Once the MT is enabled,,

Well that's strange because I saw a massive difference in the CPU test with everything on low but physics, which is high. It pretty much doubled with my X2 4400+ compared to my 3500+, both at stock speeds, which is 2.2 Ghz. So from that I say it's multithreaded.

I got a SC 4000+ that I'm OCing right to 2.92GHz on AIR. I'm not really sure if I get a cheap dual core now or hold out till tax season, when I plan on getting a 775/AM2 setup.

I think the crysis demo is optimized a bit for multi core setups. Just look, people who have core duos and x2s are saying that they don't have any sort of slowdown/stuttering and stuff, everything runs smooth for them (well, um 20+fps smooth). But we single core users can't even have physics on medium because once buildings start falling apart, the framerate hit is pretty big.

I got crysis running good at a lot of very high settings, but once I try max strength and punch one building, damn my fps immediately goes below 10.

I got the same problem. It's smooth on high but if a building explodes it's lagging like crazy. And when playing in the editor with a tornado it drops down to 1,4 fps.

How's it going fellas if it were me i would just wait until the phenoms come out and get lower in price upgrading now would be a big waste of $$ i upgraded 6-7months ago to an 5600x2 2.8ghz. i have it OCed to 3.2/3.3 the only reason i upgraded was i had an 3800x2 it was ok but by that time i already bought my 8800gts card which got bottlenecked like crazy.i tried my friends 7900gs ko and it was still on the noose. i won't be upgrading again unitl the end of '08 so this rigs gotta last me.
