The question is, how long will it last me until the ylod comes back? I'm thinking of selling it quick while it's still working, but this is a 60gb PS3 and I won't be able to play my PS2 games if I sell it and get a new slim model. What do you guys think?

Ditch that phat bitch and go with the slim, quieter, cooler and cheaper to run....and if you must play PS2 games then just get a PS2...its not like the ps3 BC was making PS2 game look any better anyway, i hated that screen haze over all the game that BC did and that weird motion blur thing.

So ditch that phat bitch and get a nice new slim model, you wont regret it.

Hell no! he will regret it. I just can't stand the idea to loose my PS2 backward compat here. That's why we own a 60 gb after all, because it includes absolutely everything.

Yeah, but PS3s after YLOD, are said to last few weeks to few months at most. Everyone will tell you to sell it as fast as possible.

Why would you sell broken hardware, thats just harsh and in no way different than scamming.

I am of course assuming the OP wil sell it on Ebay as repaired from YLOD.....of course anything else as you say would be scamming other innocent buyers which i assume the OP was not intending to do anyway.

Each to their own i suppose, i was personally glad to see the back of my 60gig, loud, noisy, heavy and my electricity suppler use to send me a thank you note in with my quarterly bill..LOL....plus never touched the OtheroS, BC was dire and never once used the memory card readers.....and a £10 USB hub gave me 4 USB ports....Never looked back. ;)

I said I repaired the ylod in my title so it is not scamming as it still works.

Yet the topic is asking for opinions on weather you should buy another one based on the fact that you don't think the YLOD fix will last. If you are confident enough to sell it without feeling you need to tell the potential buyer about the YLOD and your fix then why sell it all?

Because I hear the new Slim is more power efficient and the lowered energy bill alone justifies getting a new slim.

    Yup.

I rate a number of PS1 and PS2 games much higher than most modern games, and play them regularly.

If my PS3 could play PS2 games I'd be all over Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance.

I think it's best to just buy a used PS2 for $50 than to get an old BC PS3 as they are known to get the ylod quite often. So slim PS3 + PS2 is the way to go if you want PS2. Thus, I've answered my own question on whether to sell my 60GB PS3 =)
