    In most cases, the forced use of vertical sync from NVIDIA shows better results than in-game option (this is my personal observation).
    I use the following options for NVIDIA Profile inspector:

    - "Vertical Sync Tear Control" - standard;
    - "Maximum pre-rendered frames" - 1.

    But sometimes that is not enough to avoid small fluctuations frame rate.
    When you use the vertical sync, you can limit the frame rate value equal to the refresh rate of the monitor to get a more stable frame rates. I have seen such a proposal, but which program can limit the frame rate most effectively? NVIDIA Profile inspector offers a rough value, and here I was pleasantly surprised by RivaTuner Statistics Server. Option "Frame rate limit" shows remarkable results if you use a value equal to the refresh rate of the monitor with the active vertical sync. For observations I used Hardware monitoring history log file MSI Afterburner.

    For example (Left 4 Dead 2 standard NVIDIA V-Sync 60Hz).
    Top - reading frame rate per second. Bottom - reading frame time.

    Standard NVIDIA V-Sync 60Hz, "Maximum pre-rendered frames" - 1, "Frame rate limit" - 0.

    This is not the ultimate truth. This is my personal observation.

    Diablo 3 uses a strange vertical sync. I left vertical sync in the game and force NVIDIA V-Sync with RivaTuner Statistics Server Frame rate limitation. The result is much better.
