In all the games I have tired, I will start with really good fps and it will become sluggish for the rest of the game. This has happened ever since I updated my nvidia drivers to the latest version. by sluggish I mean I will go from 60 fps, to like 35, and 60 again...this repeats constantly.

    Nvidia gtx 560

I did do crossfire...then one card exploded and the other one had a huge shader problem after.......so I went nvidia.

Games: LoL, BF3, Diablo 3, SC2, and Dota 2 atm.

Resolution varies, usually 1600x900 or less.

yea, thats the first thing I would do is make absolute sure that there are not any driver conflicts. Especially since you switched from AMD to Nvidia. Also I personally don't like the 296.10, currently on 295.79 and it does seem snappier to me, and reading the release notes not too much changed anyway.

ran driver sweeper, uninstalled the old drivers, and got the february 21st ones. Will test them tomorrow and tell you how it goes.

Confusing thread this. 2 people questioning his specs about his AMD card, when they have AMD cards in their specs? and iFRAC7UR3 asks "is it recommended to roll back driver from device manager ? does that completely remove the current driver ? what else can i do". EH!!

anyhoo, try this, i will later tonight as im more or less gettin the same, could be a prob with sh1t drivers along with a 560 series card.

    Use Direct3D overrider.

Enable tripple buffering when using Vsync and the problem is gone.

@Ewilusz This will help, may not fully eliminate the problem, however this coupled with the feb 21st drivers should help even more.

If you need to know where to get D3DO, just download RivaTuner, it comes with it as a stand alone program so you don't need to use RivaTuner if you don't want to.

@iFRAC7UR3 first try not to derail the thread please, it is getting a bit confusing, second no, don't update the driver through Device Manager, and never try to do a driver roll back. Nvidia drivers are packaged differently now so if you try that, you would most likely cause quite a few issues.

Also the proper way of removing drivers is to uninstall the drivers. Reboot in safemode. Run whatever driver cleaner program u are using ive been using driver sweeper. reboot to standard mode install new drivers reboot. Play lol its alot of rebooting....

    Phenom x4?

have one myself, I've found that with certain processors it may run better or worse depending what Cool&Quiet is set to.

When C&Q was set to DISABLED in my mobo, the performance was awful. Ran like a C2D.....

Once I enabled it, it ran like a dream! Battlefield 3 maxed out online (with AA off) at 50+ FPS constant. Never drops below 45FPS.

    But, that's just me.

Give it a try and try some benchmarks.

How could turning on cool&quiet give you better performance?

Could just depend on the mobo, with me and my experience with Phenoms, I always had that option off and it ran better, so who knows.
