Ok so we've established that my psu is notgood enough to sli, so then I have two options.

    A) GTX460 $400NZD
    B) New psu and extra 8800gtx $200 (both) Less whatever I get for my psu

I know A is the better option but I am on a budget, and would be good to have a better psu anyway!! What sort of performance could I expect from 2x 8800gtx in sli?

well I would reccomend the GTX 460 option but then 2 8800GTX in SLI are still doing pretty good but then its a very old tech plus its not DX11, the SLI setup mentioned above uses much more power then average GTX 460 use.............so in my case I would go for the GTX 460 m8t ;)

Cooler Master 650W, not enough for SLI ?
    Hmmm, i don't think so.

Unless you have a huge CPU and/or massive OC. :)

The 460 is certainly the better option as long as you game at a res of 1680x1050 or less, because it will give you DX11 capability and enough room to play at max (with very few exceptions). 2x8800 in SLI is simply too old in terms of tech (though lovely card it was when released in 2006 (!).

I agree dack1 though, you can probably get away with a bit of SLi, so why not leave your GTX in the second slot for a bit of PhysX dedication?
