I am sure they will fix the server issue.
weird, I've not had one issue with the servers. launch game, claim city, play for hours, no problem. must be lucky or something.
So it's possible it's either user error or people might be making this up to make the game look bad, it has kinda worked though as it has put me off, but if it is lies then it is rather pathetic.
The maxis guys are pretty upset about the horrible launch. http://www.reddit.com/r/SimCity/comments/19tt4v/maxis_employees_can_you_explain_the_server/c8rb229
It's Maxis fault for making the game an online game, the blame lies with them.
EA should of thrown more money towards the servers though, clearly it's the same issue with Diablo3 and the game has sold better than they were expecting, but they are the ones who ones who know that so should have the severs ready.
So who can get on and who can't?
This is why i can't be bothered with online games and also why i stopped buying games on release day, there isn't a developer/publisher around who can get either part right.
Just bought the game.
Is the game any good?
Should I cancel my pre-order?
Got this email about my preorder
The game is supposedly good from what I've read, though on a smaller scale than previous games, due to server bandwidth. However, the online DRM and server issues are what prompted me to cancel my pre-order and I would suggest you do the same until the launch issues are fixed. There's no point in paying money for a game that you cannot play properly for two weeks (I'm recalling my experiences with Assassin's Creed II and Diablo III here).
I hope Lucy Bradshaw and Ocean Qingley are crying right now knowing they screwed many simcity fans by letting EA making Maxis their bitches,
Will Wright is probably laughing his ass off, btw
And nice metacritic user scores, if only the new reviews from europe will lower the overall score as well:
Today is UK launch day, i hope the US server of EA that deals with always on DRM will die, and all the pro DRM kiddies will cry to mom and dad about their new game not being able to launch! haha
I love it how there are always 2-3 people in every game thread relentlessly bashing the game without even playing it
Oh fook, forgot about that. Done and done.
ive seen let's play videos, in 1 hour the guy was out of space in his city and the only way he could play is to either wait for the city to grow vertically, or make a new city in the region...
I went from 30k population to 150k. vertically of course, after running out of space. it kinda forces you to go high density on everything. oh, thought the game was out tomorrow in the UK?
oops, yea 8th sorry i tought UK gets same date as EU
NA March 5, 2013
EU March 7, 2013
AU March 7, 2013
JP March 7, 2013
UK March 8, 2013
wow even better, japan, australia and european union will kill the DRM servers!
Does anyone have any ideas on how to force anti-aliasing?
FXAA doesn't quite cut it in a city sim.
*goes to fiddle with supersampling in nhancer in the meantime*
LOL they confirmed on reddit that the game is SINGLE CORE!!!
HAAHAHHAHAH and they make fun of cities xl for being singlecore?
No wonder they limited the tile size, so don't blame ONLY EA... blame MAXIS!
EA forced MAXIS to code simcity as a single core game so that they find the pathetic excuse to say that glassbox is such an intense simulator that you need EA servers to make all the calculations! NICEEE death to maxis and ea
That's a promise!
You don't half talk alot of crap Sash.
Your not being constructive in the slightest and laughing at people how bought the game having problems is just childish.
Do you have nothing better to do with your day?
not really, i just watch how the most anticipated sim city from the past 10 years, the game that supposed to bring back the franchise to what it was in simcity 4 period was, after Societies ended up making the franchise as bad, EA managed to desroy it once more, the same it did with Societies, this time using the "parents" themselves.
i loved sim city 2000, 3000 and 4, and it breaks my heart to see what EA did with it!
if i wanted to play a village sized city, i would play simcity 2000, it does not even have online DRM, but i look at the date and it's 2013, not 1995
Break you heart? lol, it's just a video game.
Either way that shouldn't give you a reason to laugh at people who have paid money and are having issues, i'm avoiding the game for the same reason but i hope it's sorted soon not just for them but also for me.
As for the game itself, when people get on they are all saying it's a great game so the only mistake was not getting the servers sorted in time for the NA release.
