Well im sure half of million dead Iraqi peope cant wait to share their thrill for US presence in their country(Im sorry, its the "Coalition of the willing")
And im even more convinced that there are many US citisens who can walk freely in Vietnam.
Im sure you didnt go to Vietnam to spread western influence. You went there to PROTECT Vietnamesee form EVILS of Komunism!
You also never went to Iraq because of OIL.You went there to save Iraqy people from EVIL SADDAM!!!(Im getting goosebumps!!!)
But neither this forum or this thread it about political opinion. This is about helping one man make one of the most important decisions of his life.
You have the right to your opinion and i have the right to mine. The truth is,on the other hand, somewhere in between.

+1 how has a perfectly sensible discussion about the pro's and con's of countries descended in to a discussion about fascists?

Like I said before, no one country is going to do it for you totally. How about this as a suggestion, why not travel and soak up some of the culture in say your top 5 choices and then choose from there?

I didn't mind the rest of your post as it was all an intelligent argument. This statement however baffled me.

How is Canada one of the worst places for technology addicts? There are plenty of stores that sell top of the line parts for reasonable prices here so all my computer needs are fulfilled. Add in the fact we can order from NCIX and newegg.

I'd like to know how we are one of the worst places for technology addicts.

Besides that though, +1 to hallryu's idea of traveling to your top picks and seeing which you like best. However that idea is dependent on if you can afford to travel.

That would be a google question. Probably pretty tough but it would be worth it. Imagine being able to go to a warm beach and driving\flying to mountains, to snow ski slopes all in the same country without any stops. Aside from that, there are a ton of muslim communities here. Sure, the rural parts of the population thinks they are all out to blow themselves up but they are rednecks and they also think the south should have won the civil war too ;-)

    At any rate.

My $$$ is on the USA. You could even get a student visa if you wanted to learn some more. Aside from some cultural profiling from ignorant people, the usa is pretty accepting and is the real mecha (spelling) for tech nerds. (atleast at rock bottom prices). Plus, its almost impossible to starve here. For 10 minutes of my wages I could buy a value meal from Mcdonalds and be OVER my daily calorie intake ;-).

    Where will you be visiting?

Well, I was partially speaking through my ass, but not totally.

I recall reading some articles online on tech sites, and the article ranked countries for how "technology-friendly" they are. Canada was well at the bottom of the most "technologically-friendly" countries. I think it had something to do with cell phone carriers/coverage/fees, and the release date of products in Canada, along with something about iPod/iPhone prices compared to the U.S.

In honesty, I cannot remember it all. So disregard my statement about that if you must.

Come to New Zealand, not sure how you will get in though, I think you need to prove you are useful so-to-speak before you are allowed permanent residency. But while you are on holiday here, check out some of these fabulous destinations. I actually just came back from Hamner Springs in the South Island for a holiday...

Hawaii is gorgeous. I went there around 12 years ago. Everything looks like it belongs on a post card it is so pretty and well maintained. The weather is a dream as well. The only draw back is it is expensive to live there from what I remember. I don't know about now, but housing then was through the roof (and so was gas).

I went to Los Angeles for a week, San Francisco for a week and Las Vegas for 6 days, the whole country (well the places I went to [but still 3 major cities]) were so run down, I wouldn't live there if I got a free house, I'd rather cut my hand off, that country is beyond repair.

I went for a week on my 'round the world' trip it was easily my favourite place, Christchurch is boring though, go to Queenstown, the whole town is mainly travellers set right in the mountains by the lake, skiing, skydiving, bungy you can do it all there also so many bars it's fantastic I want to go back right now!
