or you can have a 3rd buffer for even more head room, simple as.

    Headroom for what?

The GPU is rendering frames into backbuffer as fast as it can and you want to give it another buffer, so it has to fill two buffers instead of one, how is that a headroom or any improvement to you?

You don't need rooms!!! Break all walls... GPU -> Monitor! Simple!
Vsync it's like a march... without vsync you run as fast you can...

I tried the settings by curiosity, since the game is running perfectly on my comp everything maxed.

With my (default) driver settings and maxed game, it runs at a constant 60 FPS and never drop below (triple thehunter buffering maxicheese what ?).

With the op settings it runs like ****, about 40 fps at best with huge stuttering on some tracks, and seems even more aliased.

As expected, a GFX card can't fly, even with pig's help.

    Have fun guys.

Tbh what I really don't get is the AA settings.

So he set 4x on CCC, then set it to Edge-detect.
And then he wrote to tick the 'Use application settings' check box.

Though I'm fairly sure I know what that means, but I'll just ask again anyway.
That settings mean that the levels of AA will be managed by the game, and CCC only sets the filtering mode...is that correct?

And then he wrote to also turn in-game AA to Off.

So how come there's no jaggies?
Unless, of course, that resolution is big enough for his monitor so that it doesn't seem too jaggy than it actually is.
Or that CCC is really wonky in saving settings, but I'm inclined to believe it's not a problem with CCC.

CMIIW, though, as I don't have that game to test it out.

yes i see you cant understand, the headroom here is more buffer less tearing more frames in storage.

really i either accept it or dont idfc.

    Troll on.

I believe this is what the OP was suggesting. There are a few things to note:
    1. You can choose any AA filter you want without having to enable the level of AA you want. You can use Edge-Detect and keep the in game 4xAA enabled. Or use CCC and disable in game AA. It's either one or the other.

    2. Lowering Texture Filtering Quality can reduce the sharpness of the image thus reducing any shimmering if you notice it.

    3. OpenGL Settings shouldn't need to be enabled for this game. Not a big deal though as the OP was attempting to offer some help.

The thing is that what he actually suggested was to tick the 'Use applications settings' check box after setting the AA level to 4x and the filtering to Edge-detect, and then to also turn in-game AA off.

It's the inconsistency above that probably 'helped' set off most of the hostile reactions in this thread.

there are some games that you have to force anti-aliasing on Catalyst to have good and constant fps

example, fifa 11 works better with catalyst AA than in-game AA
