Hi guys some advice would be brill just wanted to get some opinions,

I tend to game at 4k would sending my Titan x cards back and get two
Gtx 980 ti's be a better solution as I will have money saved?

at 4k I do not intend to use any sort of AA in games unless the game is pretty old.

I have a gsync monitor so I am aiming for anything over 45fps here.

Judging by the fact you payed about 1680 pounds for those Titan X while 2x 980 Ti come at around 1080 quid ( at least OcClub Version ) I'll say the decision is 100% yours m8.

There's a possibility those 6 gigs of GDDR5 will be gold in some time, if you plan to upgrade the next gen, you might not really need them especially if they put 36 on the next Titan and 12 on 970/980 successor which might be a lie though.

On the other hand if you simply upgrade every generation, than 980 Ti will be just fine for you.

For now, I see the 980 Ti is simply as good as Titan in any benchmark.

Question is if the stores will refund your cards, I don't know what the legislation is in the UK, here they have to refund you if you return them in 14 working days if you bought anything online and 2 majors stores have the 1 Month rule for this to attract buyers.

I just had a quick look at some benchmarks. Probably the only benefit going with Titan X's is bragging rights, but then you would seem like a twat! How much would you save by going back to 980 Ti's?

I would save myself £850.00 cards are only 4 days old so etailer would refund me no quibbles, ermmm yea I been looking at benchmarks and once overclocked these 980 ti's match and go beyond the Titans, the extra memory is always good but by the time it would get utilized in most games Pascal will probably be on the market with much better performance, I tend to upgrade every year as its just the way I am, I cant seem to control the upgrade itch very well. (otherwise I get Nvidia hives) lol

lol, a friendly way of putting it!

The saving isn't exactly small, I'd say exchanging them makes sense.

If you're really strapped for cash, do it. 6gb will be plenty for 4k, because like you say, you won't need AA. how much would you see back if you went from Titan X SLI to 980Ti SLI?

BTW, for future reference, Titan is often followed by a cheaper alternative that will perform just as good.

I would definitely be sending them back in your position! Those 980Ti's are so close in performance and miles apart in price!!

Dude, definitely do it. You save lots of money............. Titan X is just money hogger, nothing else.

Only buy one of those if you're rich lol, otherwise.. it's a waste of money.

From what I've seen, the Titan X is a better card over 1080p. But is a few frames worth it to you? That's really all you need to decide.

Yep, put a good oc on them 980 Ti's and they're more than enough. Also nearing Titan X in performance.

These 980 Ti's rendering Titan X obsolete again lol.

I would have to agree, if i had just purchased 2xTitans i would send them back buy 2 Ti's and save aload of cash. You upgrade your cards frequently anyhow so the 12Gb in years to come will be useless to you even if you had 4 Titans in SLI because you would have upgraded to pascal/volta.

IMO, the 980Ti made the Titan X a pointless money waster
