that is so cool they made it so you can dodge into attacks.

because that is how a sword works or staff weapon, w sword you can divide up a blade in 1/3rds the 1st 3rd near the point is the fastest moving part of the blade with the most cutting power, 2nd 3rd has less etc. so it was a valid tactic to step into a cut (assuming you were wearing decent armor) and literally negate the cutting power of the attack.

even a long pole if you think about it the further you get out the faster and the more that pole is moving than the the inner part of the pole close to the attacker so you can take some of the power out of a pole/polearm attack that way.

very very very cool they took that into consideration and incorporated it into the game.

and that just bumped up my hype meter for this game.

That game completely passed by me until I saw it on Steam this weekend. Very interested... I hope it's not too difficult for me to finish though...

You still have plenty of time to train with Dark Souls or maybe Nioh :)

The difficulty of the game / series isn't as extreme as is often believed.
The series wouldn't be so popular if it were too difficult.

Challenging yes, frustrating at times yes, bloody brilliant, yes!

Def recommend if you find the games at all interesting.

    Or Bloodborne!

Never really played either DS or Bloodborne, might have to give it a try at times. But I guess DS1 is showing it's age by now, graphic wise... :D

Dark Souls Remastered was released recently (and replaced the original version in Steam).
Not cutting edge but good looking game, plus you don't play DS for visuals ;)

However as a stepping stone towards Sekiro and as perhaps the most accessible game Bloodborne could be your best bet if you have a PS4 (and can withstand 30 fps).

As for Dark Souls I recommend DS 1 or DS 3.
Series has somewhat a connected story but the lore is so cryptic you can start with a later game just as well.

DS 3 is ofc the newest and prettiest too with most fluent combat in DS series.

Thanks for the tips, might grab a DS game at some point, winter's coming which is gaming time anyway :D
No PS3 here, the last game that Sekiro reminded me off that I played on PS3 was Onimusha 3 (ofc it's way different, I know), but I felt myself reminded at those hours hehe
Still waiting for those Japanese stylee action RPG games to make it big time on PC, like that one game I can't recall now, where you are a big general and lots of massive fights, I'll name it when I'll be able to recall it.

Well another very good option is Nioh, it's somewhat similar to From Soft games and has the same setting (more or less) as Sekiro.

But yeah, Sekiro, Ghost of Tsushima very much welcome!

Oh Nioh has the same setting? I wasn't aware of that, I thought Nioh was more going into an "anime" style setting of sorts, like the shows with Mechs and steampunk elements or something like that. But yeah Nioh's already on my steam wishlist :D

    I think you're thinking of Nier:Automata there :)

    Nioh is a samurai-era ARPG.

(Samurai-era probably being horribly incorrect as classification but you get the idea)

there are the way of the samurai games if you like that warring states/japan setting.

They sort of unique in their gameplay tho, not for everyone you "groundhog" a few days in a village/town in japan, but the idea is to unlock every event and hidden side quest/secret, collect swords and even sword styles in 4, dont think 3 and prior had that the styles were linked to the swords you used. 4 you can even make your own style by placing moves in book you get once you become a dojo master, which is especially bad ass. you can even combine different styles.

4 and 3 are on steam and gog, might be worth a look to you.

Also is gekokujo mod for mount and blade warband, since you said you like big battles, well mount and blade is about building an army and crushing your opponents, and eventually becoming ruler of the nation. RPG elements to the game, level ups, quests, a very basic story.

If Dark Souls 3 PC port is anything to go by should be smooth sailing.

From games do look good but aren't cutting edge or very demanding plus obviously priority is on responsiveness, more so with Sekiro I'd imagine.

DS 3 was a rock solid PC port too. Even if From had a very rough start on PC with original Dark Souls but that's long gone history :)

(If rumours are true From created a PC version of Dark Souls due to huge popular demand, admitting they really aren't familiar with the platform and results might be unsatisfactory).
