I wanted to change the TIM on my 3070 for some stuff I knew was good. Who know what Gigabyte uses.

But when taking the cooler off I was greeted by this!!!

What on earth have they done here? Should I RMA this thing?

This was a new card right? Wow, never seen this before, Thanks alot of sharing this.

Never owned the Turing nor the Ampere Gpu's, but something I will keep aware about, many thanks.

Is that one thermal pad covered in copper filings, or just discolored?

Paste the cracks, use a credit card to push the paste into the cracks/scratches, drag away the excess, then re-paste it as normal.

You could RMA it, like DannyD said you may not get it back for awhile and I don't know how they handle RMA of cooler removals where you live.

They won't even let you complete an RMA, they'll blame the scratches on you and refuse.

If you can't feel it with your fingernail it doesn't matter.
Even if you can, it's going make a marginal difference at best(temperature)

Strange, wonder where these scratches came from?

I personally wouldn't worry about it at all (if the card otherwise works right w/ good temps).

    That's what thermalpaste is for.

This depends on your country, In the USA the "warranty void if sticker broken / removed" is not enforceable. You can safely repaste your graphics card and not void your warranty. I have in the past repasted a Gigabyte card, it failed after that RMA'd it, and they fixed it no fuss.
