i noticed sblive can be a pain sometimes, try unistalling the drivers and take out the sound card, reboot, then put it back. If the problem still occurs, the sound card may be broken.

Try completely uninstalling the SBLive software and drivers. After rebooting don't install the software right away. In system properties - device manager, check to make sure the sound card shows up in the list. If not, probably conflicting with the vidie card. move the sound card to a differnt PCI slot.
If the sound card does show up in the device manager, install the Windows drivers only by bringing up the device properties - reinstall drivers. Don't install DOS drivers unless for some reason you really need them. Installing the software and drivers off the disc using the Start - Run command will put the DOS drivers on too.

For sound, use what came with the card or get the latest drivers off the website.
For Video, you may need to do some experimenting. Some versions will work great and others will have issues. Generally the lower version numbers are more reliable and the higher can have slightly to moderately better performance but less reliable. Try Detonator 11.xx and see how things go. I've used 11.01 for a long time and had great performance and no problems. I recently upgraded to 14.40 and so far so good, but I am still observing.
Lastly, if your system is already unhealthy due to other problems you may not be happy with any of the drivers.

Oh, I don't think it matters but I would install the video drivers first.

Got rid of the squeal by removing the Liveware & EAX only installed drivers and disabled Emulation device.
The game port still playing up,M/Soft sidewinder pro not detected & Thrustmaster Nascar Pro,during calibration in sepperate mode steers hard right when acc. pressed AHHHHHHH! (Might use this thing for a door stop).Thrustmaster has no fix or Faq on this neither does Creative. What now Mantis my main man?Reckon ill stick with the 12.90 VGA drivers for a while see how they go but this port problem sucks (if ihadnt lashed out big bucks for the Box i'd score a usb wheel & piss the port off)Oh & icant get the Aux jack working even after selectin Quad speaker setup in control panel multimedia properties.Know anyone with a similar system? Is this stuff Compatible?
Thanks for your time Man.
Did you just disable it in device manager or did you not install it at all? Don't install it. If not installed there won't be anything to diable in device manager.
From Start menu, bring up thr Run dialog. Type in "msconfig", click ok and select the "Autoexec.bat" tab. see if there is something in there that says something like "set blaster...blah, blah". If there is, then DOS drivers are installed. You can disable them by selecting the General tab in msconfig and uncheck the box that says "Process Autoexec.bat File". Reboot and test your system.

already went there last night, the autoexc & config.sys files are empty. The device manager still shows the emulation device but i disabled it it now has a red cross. The squeal seems to have gone but i had tried this B4 & it still Squeeled? I Forgot to mention that Before last 98 install i set some of the bios settings to default or auto,This & Trying to remove & reinstall the drivers for the Card may have Helped?Weiered cause all the syst was working OK ( with occasional lockups & sound freeze) but slow (40-56FPS in Forsaken D3d) on first virgin install from disks Then Vendor updated drivers for sound & VGA & Wham it all starts. So me thinks the squeal has gone how now to fix Game port? This system has been clean installed three times surely the drivers cant load badly evey time!If i have to reinstall them again:
1\how do i remove them all first COMPLETELY & the reinstall without another clean boot of win?
2\OK to use Live,EAX?
3\How to enable Aux Output on Sound without Sb Audio Control ive done it thru' multimedia & selected Quad Spk but still no output?
Ok, you tried new drivers and are not using DOS drivers. Ultra, from previous post, may be right. Your sound card may be bad.
Can you try the card in another system to check it out?
