i just got SB Live X-gamer and installed but there is no more IRQ for it. IRQ 5 is needed and it is used by Sound Blaster Live! (so... IRQ 5 is needed by Creative SB16 Emulation (same card) ) I need to disable my printer so i can free IRQ 7 or 9 for it but i don't want to disable my printer or my Network card because i need them ...

please help me with this ... Thanx

erm, you're not trying to use 2 sound cards at the same time are you??

anyways, go disable sb16 emulation, you dont' need it unless you play games in Dos (i think its dos... well anyways, i've disabled mine, no probs)

This message was edited by LemonTea on 21 Jun 2001 07:28 PM

I dont play games in DOS but i thought the blue screen with error saying something about EMU10K1 its because of that sharing problem ...and when i try playing music the blue screen comes out with the same error ...

I only have SB Live! X-gamer and my integrated sound card (i disabled that BTW )

Bugsy ...

My SB16 Emulation needs one of the following IRQ :
5 , 7, 9 , 10

I only have IRQ 3 free...

My network card uses IRQ : 10
My printer uses IRQ : 7
My USB uses IRQ : 9
My SB Live! uses IRQ : 5

MPU 401 tries to use IRQ 5 also .... but i disabled it ...
Should i reinstall the drivers or something ?

Thanx for ur help !!

Operator 2: Hello dR_Voodoo, how may I help you today?
dR_Voodoo: i have an eTower 566i2 and i bought a Sound Blaster Live! X-gamer and installed it ... and every time i try to play music a blue screen comes out ... i think it conflicts with the Integrated Display adapter and integrated sound Card from intel ... is there some way i can disable the integrated ones?
Operator 2: let me check one moment please
dR_Voodoo: ok
Operator 2: Disable the onboard audio prior to installing a new sound card. To disable the onboard audio:
Move Jumper J7 from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3
dR_Voodoo: ok .. thats it ?
dR_Voodoo: u sure it has a jumper ?
Operator 2: Yes I am sure. That comes directly from our knowledge base
dR_Voodoo: ok .. thanx a lot

Bugsy :
You changed the jumper and it still sees the onboard sound and there is no setting for it in bios? Try pulling the sblive out, uninstalling all the software and drivers for it. Then try taking out the onboard sound in device manager. then reboot. if the onboards sound shows up again, someone made a mistake. either you moved the wrong jumper or they gave you the wrong jumper.
