    Hello!

I have a problem with getting random artifacts on desktop with stock clock settings and it seems unstable under load, it freezed once yesterday while gaming for about 2 hours under 50-60% load, also flickering ingame here and there, but not much.

I had CCC 13.1 installed. I did fresh windows install and same thing happening (13.1).

Is it possible gpu is too big of a deal for my PSU (550w, two 12V rails that go on gpu have only 25A combined), but then again im getting artifacts in desktop on occasions with no load on gpu.

    Temperatures are normal.

Also memtestCL showing me random block errors, altho with 13.1 I got artifacts on desktop in middle of test, but didnt get any after I tested with 13.2 beta.

Anyways, is my PSU causing problems, BIOS maybe (tried both and its same) or maybe drivers?

    My pc spec:
    i5 3570k at 4.2Ghz
    Gigabyte z77x-ud5h
    Corsair 8GB 1600mhz
    Sapphire HD7970 DualX
    Kingston SSD 128GB
    WD 250GB 7200rpm
    LCPOWER 550W V2.2 with rails rating 12V1x10A and 12V2x15A
    Windows 7 64bit

    Cheers

ps. If its any help i'm using two LCD monitors both 60Hz one over dual link DVI at 1920x1080 and secondary over HDMI->DVI adapter at 1280x1024.

Haha i know, its terrible :bang: , but i was upgrading my computer step by step, kinda forgot about my pc can't run on fumes all the time :D

But can my psu cause this problems? Will 750W do for this setup?

Decent(really, DECENT) PSU like XFX or SeaSonic or BeQuiet....or even OCZ 600W should be fine....but like i said, decent...
don't buy 750W crap, aim for better quality PSU, it saves ur money, when things go bad, crappy PSU=dead mobo, dead gfx, dead hdds...
If U need, U can buy 750W, but PC eats only 200-400W max so...
    600-650W should be fine.
Their not cheap, but like I said, it is money saver in overall.(besides they have better efficiency~ 80-90%, so Ur energy bills are lower)

BUT, b4 u buy something, try borrow from some1 similar power hungry card, to eliminate possibility that card is faulty.

IF it is same PSU like from this http://www.in4.pl/recenzje.htm?rec_id=570&rectr_str_numer=2 then it suck hard, so Yes, it can influence on instability/artifacting.

I'm afraid to say this suck hard PSU you showed has even higher max current output on rails than my.
I will get new PSU and hope it will fix problems, will aim 600-650W better quality.
What output current should they have on rails to be ok for my gpu?
Is Gigabyte or Corsair decent psu? I can't get those you mention, well i can but will take long time.

My Antec High Current Gamer 620M runs my rig on the left fine. My CPU is mildly overclocked and my 7950 has a 7970 PCB (6+8 Pin). You could always use OCCT and do a complete test that will stress your CPU, GPU and PSU and if any anomalies happen you can pin point the source.

Oh man...LC Power are among the cheapest and nastiest of cheap n' nasty PSU's, pretty much guaranteed your problem lies there.....

A decent 550W should run it no problem though.

Btw MemtestCL doesn't work correctly with 7xxx series GPU's, hence the errors.

If you want to check the GPU memory try OCCT.

A Seasonic G-550 should do the trick. Gold certified, not the most quiet PSU but a very good PSU overall. Try the card on other PSU, and if it does the same thing RMA it.

Max rails don't mean much...(well yeah in this case it does - 10A/15A 12v for 550W is just LOL). At least they're honest though instead of putting 25A/25A or some crap.

Gigabyte/Corsair make some good units, it really depends on the exact model but they will all be 100x better than LC Power...

Can you point us to a website we can look at to suggest some PSU's for you?

I don't mean to do a little offtopic here, but, Pill, if that's a new cpu then how is it doing? What score in 3dmark11 did you get? Nice to see you going on a new cpu though, your Vapor-X got what it deserved. :)

Thanks, sold the 955 rig to my parents and upgraded CPU/RAM/mobo...:)

You can see my 3DMark score on this page and some other results on page 2 or 3 I think. Thread seems quite popular for some reason...over 5,000 hits so far. :3eyes:

Gentlemen, you had my curiosity, but now you have my attention.

Damn, that's a nice setup right there. And nice topic as well I might say. Pill, I would like to say that you just sparked interest in the FX-8320 cpu along with the Sabertooth combo. :D What should I do, it definitely seems like a best bang for buck setup right now? Because I laid my eyes on some picture about value/price/performance and those FXs were on top of the list.

Would you approve if I went for the same setup? I mean, I'm definitely on a tight budget as well, and you'd help me with overclocking! XD LOL, PERFECT IDEA MAN. This way imma get 4.8 on air baby. Or 4.6.. xD

Anyways, whatcha think? :D Damn.. I'm getting excited..

^I think there are better alternatives to the Sabertooth when shopping on a budget.
Only reason I bought it is that the next cheapest model available to me was the M5A97-EVO R2, which I already had...

The 990FX Pro seems a nice board if it's available in your area...:)

    (sorry for thread derail)

Ok new PSU is in for testing, so far no artifacts or anything wrong. Did a fast benchmark (1080 preset )test in OCCT.
Is this ok? It didn't draw more than like 180W, is it because not enough A on rails? Here is one screenshot.
