Samsung to Introduce CH711 Quantum Dot curved monitor at 27 and 32 inches

GLAD I invested heavily in sony and samsung curved monitor tech... I am banking!

 

Curved screens are just a "fad" which will soon fade out just like 3D.

 

Completely disagree. On TV's it will fade, but on monitors I don't think it will. Especially on Ultrawide screens it definitely adds a lot.

 

In general I agree. But for ultrawide monitors they are sensible. If you are sitting in front of a 35" UW, the edges will be at a greater degree off than normal monitors, so a slight curve can compensate here.

For standard monitors and all TVs (unless mammoth size, 120"+), I see curved as useless.

 

I would agree that for ultrawide monitors curved screens would be okay.
However I think these curved monitors would make up a small portion of Sony and Samsung sales.

 

My brother has a curved Samsung 3D TV, says though he kinda likes it, his next TV will be a flat 3D TV.

He loves the 3D in movies that implement it well though. But why the hell are 3D versions of movies so incredibly over priced (in the UK), they often cost more than double the normal version. No wonder 3D in TV's is dying, people won't pay that much over the top.... >_<

For me, the way I use my monitor I will stick with flat panels.
Though I would buy a dynamic panel that can reform from flat to curved :thumbup:

 

Well if 3d generally means 120hz+, in that case i disagree.
I always bought 3d screen first since pair of nvidia glasses ( ok i changed monitor twice... ) never used glasses but loved the higher refreshes and where possible higher fps.

Should have an option for curve appenditure in list for purchase. I'd like mine negative offset, like instead of the curve pointing inwards, mine would be outwards because 180° crowd viewing XD

 

Curved monitors is a bad idea for CAD/Photography users...

 

Refresh rate.....refresh rate......... refresh rate......what is it...!.!.??

 

I have not seen any ultra wide monitors that don't have some back light bleed. I'm pretty picky so any at all would cause me to return it. It would be so cheap for the manufacturers to solve that issue but unfortunately they think it's normal. I would be impressed if this one had none. I'm not talking about IPS glow either. There is a distinct difference. Of course I don't know much about quantum dot so not sure about those panels.

 

would 've nice if they manage to feature vesa dp frame sync 75hz-100hz, native dsr with gpu cp n ofc quantum dot with va panel price

 

Curved monitors are indeed a gimmick designed to milk customers of increased charges for a non-feature that adds no value whatsoever. And yes, it is a very bad idea for graphic designers, photographers, etc. to distort their final content this way.

Note that "Quantum Dot" is also bull****. It is just the same old overlit LED backlit LCD technology with a new kind of filter for the backlight.

And, like all LCDs, it still has all the problems with gray (urm, not black) levels, etc.

I'm not buying another TV or monitor that isn't OLED.

 

Instant buy for sure, 1440p version thats the one i get in 32inch, the perfect size for that resolution.

Asus is not going to like these monitors thats for sure.

3440x1440 on a 34" or larger Ultrawide is where my clams are going. Just the right amount of height along with the extra width, imo.

 

Yeah, imo its the only real next-gen steep for a PC monitor.

Im looking at 24" one with 1080p reso, yeah 1080p.. But Downsampling is the key lol also its not too expensive, 350-400€. Somewhat the limit Im willing to pay for a monitor.
