    Taking into account 8K is less than 34MP, pushing big MP count is just marketing at this point.
    I'm more interested in better low light and auto focus performance.

    Oh I agree, I'd like to see the lense capable of passing that resolution to this sensor without loss or distortion.
    It will of course never happen.

    I want to see multiple lens stitched to create those huge zoom in pictures... It's like real life Where's Waldo. Yes, I am a pixel peeper especially with wildlife or urban photography!

    The smaller the photocells the worse the light gathering ability in low light. Using some sort of array of these and then averaging the reported values somehow to filter out noise would make sense, which is presumably what would be done here. There is the always existing problem of inter-cell gaps though which gets worse as cells get smaller as it takes up a greater percentage of overall area.
