Hello, i own A3 2017 because that is the size phone i can handle. I have some questions i hope you can help me with. 1) i have data turned off most of the time. When i turn it on, suddenly i feel lag - phone is doing plenty of stuff in the background, most notably checking for google store updates. How can i turn off this thing ? 2) What else can i do ? The phone clearly has plenty of horse power because sometimes it works extremely fast. I click on messages or calls and it opens instantly, i open gallery, camera, same thing. But other times it will take seconds. Clearly something in the background is harming my experience. I disabled all the apps i could, prevented them notifies, removed their permissions, disabled all settings i could, applied other general tweaks i could find online. I cant root my phone since my main bank app that i need requires a stock rom. 3) Anything at all i can do to slightly improve camera ? I have it on default settings and dont know what any settings do nor can i find any guide which settings are best to use to get at least decent pictures.
That model is on Android 11? If you feel adventurous, you can try a different ROM. AOSP or Lineage OS ,Iodé could breathe a new life on that smartphone. A word on flashing ROMs on a smartphone. You need to unlock the bootloader, and you may have some gains on the privacy and usability , but you lose on security. Or tweaking the stock ROM with tools available.
Thank you for the replies, i am on stock android 8.0.0, samsung experience version 9.0. Cant upgrade any further. Any ROM editing is not an option since my bank application, which i need very much, requires a non rooted phone. Also since i am doing all my banking and finances on the phone, i am not sure if i should trust the random ROMs online. It would be great if i could tweak the stock ROM without failing the root check of the rom so my bank would still work and status of the phone would remain as "original" It really pains me because even though this is weak phone compared to others, its plenty powerful enough for that i do. I know that because at certain times, it simply flies, everything is snappy. That is on 1% occasion when google isnt taking 90% of the resources for its background sh*t. For instance, everytime i turn on wifi, my phone suddenly becomes laggy for a few seconds and i get a popup that some of my apps can be upgrades. This is such an insane idea, i mean, who has time to upgrade apps everyday ? I want the google store to leave me alone until i need it. I would turn it off but guess what, my bank app demands that google store is enabled and i have no idea how to cut google store away from resources. Android is terrible in this regards, in windows i would just find a process, install "set base priority", set the process IO and CPU priority to the lowest possible and then its no longer a problem. I can sense that the phone OS is always doing something in the background, collecting data, sending it somewhere, it is really annoying. I do not mind data collecting, i would gladly give it all to them, just to stop slowing my phone with it. I cant even run a task manager on unrooted phone to see how much resources something is using actualy. There is a bunch of programs that i cant disable or uninstall, i dont even get an option to stop them from running at startup. I know that the only solution is to buy a new phone but it is making me so angry that if i install a14 year old c2d processor, ssd and windows 7, it will be snappy as hell, while a 5 year old 8 core on mobile phone can run 4K video but lags when i browse menus due to background stuff.
The systems I deal with at work are running 6th Gen Core processors on Windows7 with 16-32GB of ram and "snappy as hell" is far from how I'd describe their performance. You'd have to disable a LOT to get "snappy as hell" from a Core 2 Duo.... As for the phone. It only has 2GB of RAM and the processor was entry-level at best.....6 years later, it's time to replace it. It also can't run 4K video. It's only a 720x1280 screen. Most of us don't bother with manually updating apps every day and it only takes a few seconds to open the Google Play Store and tap on "update all".....
@sykozis My wife's laptop is an i7-4770HQ with 250GB Samsung SATA SSD and 2x 4GB DDR3-1600 CL9. Right now it runs W10 Pro, coming from W7 Pro. I define snappy as being able to open browser windows or simple applications like Adobe Reader with the blink of an eye or two. My wife's laptop does all this. Therefore I would say with the right specs even a core 2nd gen could still be snappy. Please tell me, what's your definition?
