Currently I'm on a 128GB Samsung 830 which has been great, but the capacity is just not enough for my needs anymore.

I was wondering if I ought to get a 256GB Samsung 850 Pro.

If not then what else? I don't plan on spending more than $200 USD on a hard drive.

The 850 Pro is one of the better and fastest SSDs available. I have a 500 g 850 Pro and I've never had issues of any kind. There's really nothing better to recommend in my opinion.

I went from a Samsung 830 256GB to a Samsung 840 EVO and saw a slight bump in terms of Windows/regular use since it uses a lot of 4K, from 830 to 850Pro you may see a good bump in performance especially from 128GB, more so on sequential as well as 4K.

The top two right now I can think of is the Samsung 850 Pro and the Sandisk Extreme Pro. [Here] of course in terms of pricing its looks like +$16 for +16GB.

Thanks, I just ordered the 256GB 850 Pro. Got it for $180 w/ free shipping.

    -edit-
I now see the Sandisk Extreme Pro 240GB for $158. Oh well, too late.

I went from two 840 Pro 256GB in RAID-1 for my office workhorse OS drive and noticed a slight increase in write performance with the 850s in that config. I upgraded due to the longevity of the different kind of memory used in the 850s and that allowed me to transition the 840s into my Asus G75 notebook.

I picked up an extra 850 Pro 512GB for my living room/gaming rig and just did the migration (other thread) from a Hybrid Seagate 750GB drive and couldn't be happier.

Honestly, the 850 Pro is going to be better and probably last longer than the Sandisk if everything lives up to spec and claim, but the extra money you spent also includes a longer warranty with the Samsung (I think)

I've had the 850 Pro installed for a few days and so far, so good.

That's exactly what I thought! And yes, warranty is 10 years.
