Good day all, I hope you can help me. I have the following mother bord: asrock x470 fatal1ty gaming k4 link:https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/Fatal1ty X470 Gaming K4/index.asp I am currently running it in combination with a R7 3700x and some G.skill flair x 3200mhz. One of my friends want to buy my R7 3700x which gives me the option to upgrade to the R9 3900x. I see that the R9 3900x consumes 145 watt of power and I am worried that the VRM will not be able to supply sufficient power to the CPU? Can you please give me your thoughts on it? I have a 240mm AIO water cooler thus no stock fan blowing directly on VRM heat-sink. Above heat-sink I have two fans which could possibly cool them down. Thank you
Thanks for the reply. I saw on the supported list but was hoping to receive a bit of feedback from someone with similar setup.
I would check out what BIOS are released for the Asrock Motherboards.Asrock has skipped or been real slow on BIOS releases for X470.I do not own an Asrock motherboard ,so I do not know if it is good/bad/useable ETC. https://www.hardwareluxx.de/communi...-bios-agesa-ubersicht-28-11-19-a-1228903.html
Here's the thing I've read that the 3950X REQUIRES the AGESA 1.0.0.4 code however ASRock is being stubborn with the X400 boards(my B450 included) There are beta BIOS's here: https://shop.jzelectronic.de/news.php?id=1574938860&sw= That should have what is needed to run the chip while waiting for ASRock to get off their rear.
It would be nice if they had a beta BIOS page like MSI has instead of having to get them from a third party.
