this game needs around 4gb vram at 1080 because of the fidelity of the graphics nothing more, 4k is another story.

Dude..A CryTek dev already confirmed on steam forums that 4GB is only needed for 4K..

No the 4gb vram requirement is for 4k. It would be insane to need 4gb for 1080P.

watch dogs uses up to 3.6gb at 1080 and ryse looks x2 better textures.
anyways a few weeks and we'll see. it's the first game to list 4gb vram as recommended for 1080 but that seems to have gone over everyones head.

1080 and 4k vram usage ain't that far apart if you read Hilberts reviews.

Yes, it is... i use about 1500 vram in bf4 at 1080p, but about 2800 at 4k.

And remember that the engine is the cryengine, which delievered AWESOME Graphics in crysis 3, and stayed within 2gb vram, even at 1440p.

So my guess is a bit over 2gb with good AA at 1080p, and just within 2gb with only fxaa.

    alright thanks, Dorlor.

Watch Dogs isn't very well coded though, it's also an open world game while this isnt.

They got this looking fantastic even on the Xbox so I'm assuming it's reasonably well optimised.

Even if it was vram heavy, most can just turn down texture quality, in most games the difference between high and ultra is subtle at best and that will leave you room for more important things like AA.

I think the textures will be a bit better than crysis 3, hence why i think the vram reqruirements will just be a tad higher than that, as Ryse is running on the same crygine 3.5 as crysis 3.

Due to using the same engine, i dont think it will be a game changer compared to crysis 3 (which is still amongst the most demanding titles gpu power wise, but not that vram demanding) - but ofc i could be wrong :)

Another thing is that most GPU's (like his GTX760) will run out power long before Vram.

980GTX 8GB will die out trying to run 4k, just not pissible.

i feel the textures in this are way better than crysis3 (they'd have to be if you can run game at 4k without it looking horrid.

Have you tried it yet, since you can feel it? :p

Anyways, they will likely be a bit better, but not necesarily alot - bf4 and crysis 3 textures still looks crisp in very high resolutions :)

The double vram Cards are meant for sli setups though - 3 or 4 way sli with 8gb 980's would make perfect sense :)

I agree with this! In bf4 for instance, you can save yourself alot of vram consumption at 1080p, by turning textures from ultra to high, and you can barely tell the difference.

of course you can switch them down, though the only reason to get this is for the lovely graphics imo.

I dont disagree with that - what i said was simply to accommodate the people who are using 2gb gpu's (which the vast majority still are), and who still wants to use real AA, like smaa 2x or 4x... and that most likely wont be possible with ultra textures... but Again, at 1080p, youd hardly be able to tell the difference between high and ultra textures, but you would certaintly be able to tell the difference between real AA, or no aa / ****ty fxaa :)

Not interested in this game myself, played the Xbox one version and it's fairly generic.

This game is a turd. It was a turd on xbox one a year ago when I played it, it will now be a turd with better textures. Graphics or not, the game sucks. Has PC gaming reduced itself to this? Drooling at the mouth to play a terrible game that's been ported over with better details?

Seriously guys, I can't stress to you enough how repetitive the combat is. It takes away any enjoyment.

I think most people already know that (well I hope they do) but the fact nearly all the posts are about the visuals or other technical features suggests very few are interested in this as an actual game.

I can also notice the difference between high and ultra textures in BF4 and a few other gsnes, but the difference isn't big enough to turn off other settings and it's not noticeable at all when your in motion.
