Yeah it does really well without the thermals being a issue since even if the stock PCB and cooler is good it can't compete with high-end water based cooling setups. Going by results I've seen so far and now the above too.
Might be possible to get it higher if getting the power limit up beyond 20% works though 2 ~ 2.1 Ghz and in this case even 2.2 though I do see it's pushing voltage a tad higher, maybe there are some software mods allowing for 1.3+ already then? Neat!

I have now finished with setting up the reference RX Vega 56 flashed with an RX Vega 64 bios.

Here are the final under volt settings and performance results, and these are for daily use, so just a balanced approach.

The following is just for general GPU score comparison because Time Spy gives incorrect CPU scores for the 2600K.

Finally, this wouldn't be complete with out a game comparison. :)

My score with stock Vega 64 bios and same settings as Hilbert's review.

My score after flashing with an under volt and again same settings at Hilbert.

Full resolution (1440p) video of above benchmark, including all under volt settings from driver control panel. Note that performance is slightly reduced due to recording.

Now that I'm done with that, I am going to consider if increasing my CPU overclock to 4.8 GHz for daily use would be of sufficient benefit at 1440p.

    Edit.
    Added game comparison.
    Added game video.
    Added game default results.
Added Time Spy Stability Test and driver power limit setting comparison.
    Got all the typos.
    Added Unigine: Superposition.
    Added TLDR.

That 2600k is definetly hurting your scores.
Very evident in TimeSpy score. Should be near to 7350 with stock settings

Vega 56 still is very capable GPU for Gaming (and FreeSync) :D
As of FS, i can tell that make a Quality Buy, You won't regret it.

Yes, then just flash it, and under volt it.

    Best deal going.

Recently got a second hand miner Vega64 Lc, and i seem to got a really good one.
    Daily setup is ~1800/1100mhz, 1150mv, 0%powerlimit.
With power limit at 50% and 1230mv it howers around 1860/1140mhz with spikes all the way to 1895mhz!.

    Some quick 1080p benchmark's i made.
    Firestrike 23547
    Timespy 8730, graphics score 8729
Shadow of the tomb raider,dx12 TAA, highest setting 112FPS
Rise of the tomb raider dx12, TAA, Highest setting 150FPS
    Superposition, extreme 5447.

Seems like i got a cheap Radeon VII :)

What is your graphics score on that Firestrike run?

Yeah, i never expected this kind of performance when i decided to pick a Vega64 .

Didn't even do a repaste since things are going so well :).

Question, would there be any additional gains by installing it in custom loop with ekwb block? Has anyone done such thing even?

Considering your core temps max out at under 50c i don't think there is much to get with a reasonable loop. Maybe you could drop the temps 10-15c on a 1080 radiator with liquid metal TIM.

Here I am! I have a Vega 64 ex-blower in a 2x240mm loop and EK waterblock, shared with an Alphacool Eisblock XPX for my 2700X.

Since I have my card heavily undervolted (165w max in GPU-Z) my temps are super low, 45°C max with low fans.
I’m all in for a custom loop though. Your PC would be more silent and have better temps. Especially since you have a furnace... ehm... 8700k
Not that Vega 64s are less of a furnace

Nice. What temps are you getting with lets say turbo setting ? I could push my card even further but after it goes past 55c(junction 75c) I start to get crashes. If I could tame those, 1900mhz would be a reality :)
I'm managing to cool my 8700k 5ghz@1.29v with now ancient H100. Been using it since first days of 2600k but I agree, I think is its time for an upgrade

Furmark with +50 power limit, fans (4xEK Vardar Evo RGB) and pump (Jingway DP1200 PWM) at 100%, 40°C core, 53°C hotspot, 47°C HBM (unmolded die, so HBMs are a fraction of a hair lower than the rest of the die sadly), 42°C core VRM, 50°C Mem VRM. Around 1613MHz. 250w. From 35°C onwards it climbs 1°C every minute and then stops at 40°C.

By the way, I have a cramped case (Aerocool Aero 800)...
