RX 6600 XT only does 8x. My motherboard has one PCI-E slot with the full amount of pins for 16x, and the second slot is half the pins.

Is there any difference at all whatsoever in using the second 8x slot vs the 16x slot? The GPU itself has the full amount of traces on the PCI-E end.

Am I missing something? The bottom of that GPU is covered in gold traces along the entire section.

I haven't physically examined the card to see if the traces were actually connected, but I've had a card before that just left the other half of that rail completely blank.

You are running it with 2700x so thats pcie3 x8 and no sam support. It will bottleneck especially at 1440p.

too old for amd to care, need pcie4 to run 6600xt
pcie lane bottleneck shows especially when you're playing cpu dependent games. you have to decide if you care. for single players I wouldn't, but for competitive shooers it's a big hit

Even he does swap the cpu with x470 still no pcie4, its a pickle.

no it isn't just stop supporting a company that cuts pcie lanes for 400eur cards
and requires you to have gen4 for same performance as in the reviews, with cutting corners and artificial limitations

He have rtx3060 but 6600xt outperforms it even with a pcie3 bottleneck. :D

    no it doesn't
    at 1440p they're the same
    at 3440x1440 3060 wins

with 6600xt on 3.0 even more so if the performance hit can be over 10% in competitive shooters

Need a mobo upgrade to get around the bottle neck. Not a terrible idea, although AM5 is around the corner, it's now looking like AM4 is to co-exist with AM5. Meaning these late gen AM4 platforms might get new CPU releases longer than anyone expected.

He showed the benchmarks of his both gpus in amd thread and 6600xt was faster on his 2700x system. Although it was a syntetics.

For the full potential yes. Although not immediately if they wanted to wait for whatever reason (like try and catch a sale sorta thing)

lol,why would he change the board alone
    it's a x470 it will support even r5000
his problem is pcie lanes, so the problem is gpu not the board.

imo look for a 6700xt, it's the best solution to his problem right now, sell the 6600xt and read some more before you buy.

Does his mobo support PCI-E 4.0 speeds?

    *typo

    you don't need 4.0 for 6700xt
    you do for 6600xt

    ironic,isn't it

Sure it does without pcie4 you wont have sam support. All rdna2 needs pcie4.
