25% faster than the 285 will put it below the 5850...

I have trouble believing that a 448 shader card with the same clocks as a 240 shader card is only going to be 25% faster.

lol, what are you smoking, the 5850 is about on par with the gtx285, in a lot of cases, slightly below, how would it be slower, if the 470 is only 25% more powerful that would make it about the same as the 5870...which is underwhelming considering the wait and the hype, but it's still not the same as being slower than a 5850....unless you meant to type the 5870, in which case you may be right

    EDIT:

The tech industry has no credibility anymore, i've seen hundreds of articles quoting that 1 pre-order as factual launch price, and then these fools are using the exaggerated 6 month old PSU requirement rumour.

The cards are supposed to draw about the same power as a gtx280 which puts them at <225

Because it has been reported several times that the 480 will have the same 'thermals' as a gtx280, and I mean by sites that seemingly know what they are talking about, not the sites that take rumours and spin them as fact

    My bad I was thinking 5870 :p

Bolded is off by about 15% at least, the 5870 is hovering between 30%-60% faster than the 285. Depending on the game (going by the charts)

I am just biding my time. As soon as Nvidia launch these if they are on par or slower than the 5 series then ATI will lower their prices and release a 5 series revision... Maybe a 5890 which is what I shall pick up... Hopefully they pack it with a 512-bit buffer for a stupidly high bandwidth which would be sweet as I would buy 2 and xfire them for some serious penis dribbling... :eyes:

Sorry for the vulgarity I got carried away there... I just want a new card!!!!

Yeah sure, i'll whip out my giant list that I bookmarked because I care so much :S

Get over the fanboy stuff, I read it, I don't need to prove it, in any case, any specs are debatable and unprovable, so I don't know what you want me to say.

I'm telling you that I read it from several places. Believe it or don't, I reeeeeally don't care.

ATI will only lower their prices if the Fermi cards are lower or close to the pricing of the 58/5900 cards, nothing at the moment suggests that they will though.

ONLY 25% faster and twice the EVERYTHING. Twice the transistors, GDDR5, 1GB of memory, 512 bit path and still only this little gain...... ??? .....

I can't believe it. Rumor indeed.

better question..what are you smoking you must be some hardcore nvidiabot to believe that:wanker:

the 5850 is faster then the gtx285 by good 10-15% in most games meaning the gtx470 will be in between the 5850 and 5870 performance wise like mentioned in the article.

shaders have nothing to do with when it comes to cards performance or its specs. lets hope it dosen't turn out like what the article mentioned cause 300w consuming 450 dollar card slower then a 5870 doesn't sound very attractive to me personally. lets hope it turns out much better then the rumors. if it ends up like the rumors or worst then it's bad for the consumers and nvidia

specs has nothing to do with a cards performance in general. you can estimate the performance by the specs but you can't in surely know how the outcome is entirely.

if we estimated performance by specs in general all the time ati cards would of always been faster by theory.
