It was already pricey at 400.

I agree, i would like to see some performance jump for the 200-300 range cards, Polaris is a very old gpu now.

400$ was actually a good deal for a 5700xt level of performance.

Increasing performance by a factor of at least double makes me feel like it's the 90's again! We can dream!!

I find this hard to believe because i can still remember the rumours about the 6900xt being much faster then anything Nvidia had to offer...

But even if this turns out to be true, what´s the point if we can´t buy them anyway...

they are rumors too that the Next generation of Nvidia RTX video card (RTX 4090) will be up to 4 times faster than the actual RTX 3090 :D

I also hope the rumors are true, because GPUs desperately need a chiplet design in order to scale up in an affordable way.
The only thing I fear is... what if today's market causes a permanent impact on GPU prices?

I simply don't need a gaming graphics card at the moment. Currently I am more into retro gaming also I have a deskmini with a 4650G. I will sit these prices out for the couple of next years. And I will take the money for better times, when prices will be in a normal region again. That's why I am happy selling the 5700XT. There might be other reasons for others as well. So gerneralizations are in general not a good thing :D

I guess that x1.2 faster is up to x3 faster :D
sounds to me like a nice spin off to boost stock value that has been falling down the past few month...

This is a weird statement, technically true but still weird.

The 4 generations of Ryzen has about the same improvements as 10 generations of intel 2000 -11000 series.

3900x is not a gaming CPU.
In gaming workloads a 3600 or 5600 is a better choice then a 6700k, even a future 5400G Quadcore would be a better choice.
For allcore productivity workloads a 1700 is allready better then a 6700k, no need to compare with a 3900x.

    Back to subject.
I hope the huge boost to CU and shaders translate to higher performance, Nvidias boost to shaders did not scale well from 2000 to 3000 series, because of changes to the architecture i guess.

So funny reading the comments here saying this is probably fake news.

These were the same people who didn't believe the RDNA2 rumours about it being close to or beyond Ampere, or with the rumoured 2.3+GHz clockspeeds, or with the infinity cache, or with the 80CU die.... etc .etc

Yet these rumours were coming from like 3 or 4 different leakers and all turned out to be true.

And now these rumours are coming from the exact same people.... but people are like..... nah fake news.

Considering the performance uplift of the 60 series i tend to believe the rumour though pretty sure we're looking at a minimum two thousand dollar card here lol.

don't see anything weird about mine and frankly your post seems to validate it
you're specifically mentioning 4th gen 5400G as a better choice than 6700k,exactly because it took them a couple of generations to get the ccx-ccd communication speed to this level.
Productivity value was not part of my point because it doesn't particularly expose the problems mcm design can have when latency is a big factor.

it's funny how many people follow trash channels like mlid and post their rumors here, even though he was 90% wrong about this gen.He knows absolutely nothing in advance and every piece of true information he has before launch comes from videocardz/chiphell forums.

    Like any of us care...
It would be more intriguing if the title said,
Rx7900xt would be 3 times more available than Rx6900XT

    each chiplet sold individually

also,am I the only one here thinking that bringing a mcm design gpu earlier than expeccted is more likely with miners not gamers in mind ?

Hmm maybe they mean ray traced performance vs their current tech. If it's raw performance, I call bs.

    BS on what?

Rumours are saying they are going MCM design with two 80CU dies thats 160CU's that is them basically strapping 2 6900XT's together. Then add on clockspeed improvements from 5nm process, lower engery and better efficiency. Then also add in more (and probably faster) IF cache, and then add on improved IPC gains and general architecture changes and probably faster VRAM too and a wider bus....?

Could this lead to 3x the performance on paper as it stands, I don't see why not.

Could the whole rumour be BS sure.
