Intel's Raptor Lake-S desktop processor would contain up to 68 MB of "total cache" (L2 and L3 cache). In consonance with what AMD is doing with the pending Ryzen 7 5800X3D and 3D Ver... Rumor: Massive Cache Size Increase for Intel Raptor Lake Processors
We have already been over this extensively... it's a chip design meant for mobile platforms, forced on desktop... it is not preferable for a gaming desktop pc in any possible way.
The E-Cores have been thoroughly shown by multiple reputable sources as being worthless, or even a detriment, in anything outside of heavily multi-threaded workloads that aren't latency sensitive. In games they're complete trash. HUB demonstrated that it's the cache difference alone that makes the higher model Alder Lake processors perform better.
Seems to be really hard to grasp that the lower the power of the cores that your application is not using, the higher the power of the cores it is using.
What makes you think anyone doesn't know that, or that it's always technically correct? It's irrelevant to what I said either way, what I said is correct regardless of how you want to spin it. The problem is that it's a waste of silicon in a desktop environment, save for very niche cases. I'd hardly call that solved.
That's not true at all. The desktop environment is not comprised of only gamers. In fact gamers are a small subset of desktop users. Exactly how did you come to such a ridiculous conclusion?
How is having more power envelope available for the cores working on your foreground application, a niche case?
That is like saying The desktop environment is not comprised of only Overclockers. In fact Overclockers are a small subset of desktop users. Exactly how did you come to such a ridiculous conclusion? Most People think both are true here... not all though I welcome the E-Cores for lite work like web browsing and what not, but as of now there P/E core cpu use MORE power then normal CPU in idle last i looked anyway. IF there E-core can run the OS functions will P-cores run the my game or what ever I doing that would be great. right now it remains to been seen what happens going forward but e/p core is promising on desktop if done right If people dont want e-core turn the freaking thing thing off like HT people went on how they hamper performance and said better to turn em off, so turn it off.
armchair generals got nothing on armchair engineers just unload them in Taiwan, Israel, Ireland whatever; give them unlimited resources, contracts and contacts, and they'll build you a fire! sht you not
