It would be nice to see a newer mordern day Command and Conquer based on the FrostBite4 engine and a Half Life III on FrostBite4 as valves Source engine sucks and is outdated AF.
Microsoft would gain a kick ass 3D engine with a butt ton of I.P.'s and two digital distribution platforms that are better than the current ones MS runs. MS would be sitting on a decades worth of exclusive titles for the XBox consoles. Even using FrostBite4 on the next Halo game would be worth it.

The only real chance for a new HalfLife game is if valve gets purchased.
You wouldn't want to see a new Half Life game on the Source engine would you?
The only real modern day choices would be frostbite4/unrealengine4/cryengine5.
If Gordon Freeman were to come back again don't bring him back in a Yugo, give the man a Model S P100D.

It was cute when Capcom couldn't count to three. Valve not being able to count to three isn't cute and may Microsoft buy valve fire all the lead staff and kick development in the ass while butchering Steam into the next versions of XBoxLive/WindowsLive stores.

Valve is not a public company. You can't just buy 51% of stock and call shots. Up to Gaben if he thinks its worth selling Valve or HL license.

And game engines are just a tool, you just build it upon requirement.
If Valve wanted to introduce HL3, they'd build a new engine for it or upgraded source engine. Just like they did for Dota2 (Source 2).

Not like MS can't make Gabe an offer he won't refuse. Valve already went through their glory days and 15 minutes of fame. Even Gabe knows the company is a has been in the industry. He needs a last hurrah so he can retire without looking like a complete joke to his peers. MS offering to buy valve is likely the last chance he'll get to ride off into the sunset happy.

Damn dude, you talk about Valve like its going under bankruptcy.
Let's widen our vision a bit! Let's start from fact that Valve's is not only game developing company, but biggest game digital distributor.

Guess you hate Valve too much to see a bigger picture.

Gabe Newell will probably never sell Valve Corporation to Microsoft.... It's basically a Money Making Machine.
