Not too bad when the next upgrade is the 7000 series.

People need to stop buying an upgrade every generation.

ok so why bother releasing the 4070 at all if the pricing is so close to 4070Ti LOL.

If pricing is this close I suspect the 4070 might have 20GB on 160bit bus

Given the heavy cut specs, this is greed at highest level.
I "understand" to rip off at high end where enthusiasts have budget, but for mid class and low if they come up with this, sucks.

Yeah, it would seem exceptionally weird if the 4070 ended up costing practically the same as 4070 Ti. That's why I find this rumour quite strange indeed. I do understand that Jensen wants to turn PC gaming into a premium hobby for the chosen elite in the society, but it would still be strange to have those two models carry more or less the same price.

I've said it before, nVidia has made a paradigm shift with the pricing of the various tiers of card, RTX 4x60 cards would most likely be priced at where the RTX 3070 were, perhaps even higher, same is true for each and every following tier. I'd not at all be surprised to see an RTX 4050 going for 350USD or higher, and the nV fanboys would just lap it all up.....sadly.

Funny how people think one side of stupid is better than another one. Definition of blind fanboyism. 7900xtx costs more than 6900xt but now only matches a heavily cut ad103 on 4080, with more power. But the only reason to complain is always NVIDIA buyers somehow.

That's another reason I'm hopeful that Intel continues with their gpu effort.

This type of pricing would have sent everyone to team Red in the old days. But AMD is now just as guilty at Nvidia.

PC gamers have always paid a premium over consoles. But continuing this skyrocketing trend of gpu pricing does have a negative effect on the pc market you are trying to sell to.

I'm also hoping Intel will make a break at least in mid range segment.
Honestly they only need good drivers and support at this point, price is there.

The 7000 series isn't really better, and you don't have to upgrade every year for prices like this to be a bitter pill to swallow. Even the 2080 was cheaper than this, which is not only a higher performance tier but it's not yet an obsolete GPU.
People like myself have been holding off upgrading for a long while, waiting for something to be worth upgrading to. That isn't going to happen if prices are going up at the same rate as performance.
And supposing this rumor is true, this implies AMD is going to charge only slightly less. Let's assume the 7800 is the competitor to the 4070, if these prices are true, we can expect AMD to sell for around $600. That's just dumb.

Honestly, the 4080 was doomed to be a bad price. The 4090, while a better value than the 3090, was still crazy expensive. The 4080 would be palatable with 4070 prices but it isn't far enough behind the 4090 to have such a dramatic decrease in price.

Not sure where you're getting that from, seeing as nobody here (other than maybe TheDeeGee) is supportive of what AMD is doing, let alone mentioned AMD or their pricing. We also don't know AMD's pricing for whatever their competition is going to be for this segment. The fact of the matter is, Nvidia is setting the trend of pricing, because they dominate the market. All AMD has to do is be the better value, which so far, they are not. We're all in a lose-lose situation here.

    Eh I'm not worried.
Once the enthusiast market dries up (and it basically almost did already), the abysmal sales will force both vendors to drop prices massively if they want to keep selling anything.
Today they are riding on the final waves of the covid+mining boom demand storm.

Average Joe and Jane living month to month wanting to make a computer for their child so they can play some games will not spend upwards of $800 just for the GPU, that's for sure.

Especially with all these financial collapses and corporations laying off thousands upon thousands of people, Jane & Joe will definitely prioritize food and having a roof over the outrageous prices of computer parts today.
