We'll have to use the word allegedly here, but the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti would have been announced in weeks two or three of May, that announcement now is rumored to have been elayed.... Rumor: GeForce RTX 3080 Ti delayed a week towards early June
One of the most pointless releases ever when you can't satisfy demand of your current line-up. The multiple rumors of launch/delay/cancelation only make it funnier.
Professional miners probably asked Nvidia for more time so that they can figure out the smoothest way to bypass the anti-crypto measures. It would be highly irresponsible to have miners buy the cards, yet not be able to start mining effectively immediately.
Honestly I expect Nvidia to make about 5 thousand of these cards and a single miner (highest bidder) has probably already claimed the entire load. This card is not only out of stock before release, but it's effectively EOL and discontinued. You won't be able to get one until the 4000 series is launched. Then you can buy an abused one that's been mined to death on ebay for only double msrp (if you're lucky).
"I'm feeling a lot of negativity and doubt on here regarding NVidias ability to supply these in huge quantities and at below MRRP" said sceptical fox in a sarcastic tone.
Well, the chips that does not make the cut as a 3090 because one or more of a said core isnt making it can not be used in a 3090. This can also not make it as a 3080 that is another chip.. so either it is trash.. or it is a 3080Ti, thus it is not potential 3080’s or 3090’s that becomes 3080Ti’s, it is ‘failed’ production 3090’s that still is almost as good.
Im resigned to the fact my 1080Ti FE put under H2O is looking like one of my best buys ever. £699 on launch day via Amazon UK, back in the days when you could actually buy a car on launch day.
