800w would probably melt that 12vhpwr connector anyways, at 800w I’d need to watercool the connector too lol I’d settle with a safe 650watts.

Yeah, looks very similar to mine except i chose the plexiglass one. I had a tough time finding the instructions at first also to even know where the thermal pads go.

The stock cooler had a larger area and cooled a few things that the ek block doesn’t. I wasn’t worried once a realized that some of those same chips are not cooled in other areas of the board.

honestly, i do think as nice as the block is, it is definitely overpriced. You can buy a budget graphics card at that price… its ridiculous. They are banking on us willing to pay for it after being willing to pay for a 4090 and i guess they are right… once you pay that much, what’s another 360$ Canadian.

The first GPU i watercooled was a GeForce 7800 GTX back in 2005 (CPUs from 2000) and the block literally only covered the GPU die, i bought some stick on fins for the VRMs.

I think the first full cover block i used was on the 280GTX in 2008.

Good old days when things were simple but a much bigger deal as not many had it. This is actually my first gpu block installation because i never deemed it worth doing as i didn't expect to be using the same card for too long. My first water cooling was with the intel 5960x, at the time it seemed like a waste of money as the difference in overclocking didn't make it worthwhile but actually, the water cooling stuff i bought then are still relevant compared to everything else i bought. Two of the best investment in pc one can make is the water cooling and a good PSU as the stuff will not be obsolete for a very long time.
