Rumors that Asus TUF v2 bios reduces coil whine and removes W limits that weren't originally supposed to be there.
    Haven't updated mine.

Anybody tried downloading their BIOS with GPU-Z? When I try, I get "BIOS reading not supported on this device".

Wondered if GPU-Z needs and update?

    WAT? That sounds really odd.

You mean save BIOS to file? Yes, I get that error as well. I assume a GPU-Z update could fix it.

Nah, it's the same as V1 just repacked because some people had errors trying to flash it.

Same on the TUF. You should be able to backup/save the vBIOS using the latest Nvflash, though.

Update: GPU-Z 2.51.0 and later now support VBIOS extraction for RTX 4090.

Sounds exactly like my 4090 strix, even at 60 fps.

I found someone in another forum, values are now in the list and roughly correspond to the FP32 and FP64 performance (in Tflops) of the graphics card for the OpenCL application gpuOwl.

Now I just need someone with an RTX 3090 TI, this value is still missing in the table!
Just PM me if you know someone or have this one. Thx for the expenditure.

That's exactly how my 4090 TUF sounded which is now returned. Different PSU, different power company, yet coil whine sounds the same. This really exposes that blaming PSU (maybe that was the case 15 years ago, but not any more) is wrong. It's GPU makers that should be blamed for using subpar components, build quality and QC.

It seems that the more performance power delievery is used, the worse the coilwhine. The gpu's with the weakest power delievery are also the ones with the least coilwhine.

This is just guesswork. I'm sure the professional reviewers will get to the bottom of it eventually.

You previously said that you think it's just your STRIX that had bad coilwhine and that it's not consistent, even in 2 examples of the same model.

If u guys having so much trouble about coil whine u can try a msi suprim x one u pay a bit more in price but it got lesser coil whine i think. And ofcouse higher coilwhine is always there with unlocked fps and vsync off.

Der8auer noticed that his 4090 Strix that has no coil whine sports power chips from a different manufacturer than his 4080 Strix (Infineon) that has coil whine. Perhaps ASUS uses components from different manufacturers on the same cards as well and some cause the coil whine while others do not.

I'll check which ones I have on my 4090 TUF (which doesn't have coil whine) when my water block arrives.

I've long suspected that components sourced from different manufactures are to blame for coil whine and it's the most realistic explanation. This wouldn't be a problem if differences were minimal. But some people get whisper quiet cards and others get cards that are impossible to live with. I hope that Gamer's Nexus, Hardware Unboxed or even Linus picks up this story and does proper investigation.

Imo this powerplug is BAD design, when it almost encourages user error, and has such a small margin for error...

I haven't had hands on experience, but after watching GN Jesus video, I can see how easily user error can occur. There has to be some sort of clicking or something that confirms that the cable is seated in properly. Also it should not be able to partially come out because of cable bending, unless it's extreme, even though "extreme" is relative, especially for people that want to have super tidy cable management. Either way, this design is likely here to stay, I think the melting cases would have to be way more frequent before changes would happen.
