As the Fans have some fancy LED flickering, because of this I am having a hard time to eyeball this. I also wonder if the irregularities are triggered because of the LED flashing. I mean its PWM and I don't know where the powering of the LEDs is taken from.
I leave the fan speed on "Auto" all the time. But my Fractal Torrent has pretty good Airflow which is linked to the CPU temp, so I don't see a lot of high temperatures - even on games like Cyberpunkt 2077.

Here's the screenshot when I played some Mario on Yuzu. The GPU was barely used but Fan 2 was at 0% all the time and Fan 1 at around 30-35% all the time. Look at the irregularities with the fan speed - I really don't think this is normal :(

I don't know. If I play low demanding Games like MK1 (yes, Mortal Kombat 1 from the early 90s), my Fans never spin.

If I play BF5 (somewhat demanding but not too much), then it seems like my fans are spinning if the card reaches around 50°C. Then both Fans are kicking in with around 1300 rpm. They spin a few seconds, cool the card below 50°C and then the Fans are stopping, this is a permanent on and off because I barely hit 50°C.

But they are spinng both - at least on a 3D Game. Are you on Silent BIOS?

    It isn't.

You could try flashing a new bios and see if that helps :)

Guys , there is a local shop that have one rtx 4090 msi gaming x trio and one zotac gaming trinity in stock wish i think it's the kind that uses reference pcb's. I know this are in the low end of the spectrum as they have cut down power stages and comes with 450w Bios with a whole lot of empty space on their pcb.

There absolutely anytwhere else to buy this cards 4090 at msrp except for this local shop brick and mortar store. Only Scalpers selling them everywhere at newegg , amazon , ebay and marketplaces from $2,200 up to $3,500US Dollars. I ask a friend who works at Best Buy and told me they have not received anymore 4090s since the first shipment and they do not know if they will or when receive more of them.

Have any of you guys bought one and any problems to report on them ( Zotac trinity or msi gaming x trio ) ?
I want to finish my new built and the only thing missing is a new gpu.

Also i'm some what worried about the adapter melting thing since i'm using an evga 1200w P2 psu and i will need to use an adapter , do not know if i should wait until nvidia makes a statement or just go for it. This new card has to last me at least 2 years like my 3090 that i'm using right now. The thing is that i'm also upgrading from 4k 60hz display to 4k 120hz display :/ and i will need the gpu power to run games at 4k 120hz. Uncertain on what to do.

It's such a shame that stores are scalping these cards. In most stores over here, 4090s are anywhere around 500-1000 Euros more expensive than their respective MSRPs, which is just a ripoff, especially since these cards are priced so high to begin with. I'm glad I got my card for MSRP, but I got lucky.

That said, either of these two cards should be fine, although I believe none of those two quite use the reference PCB, which may be important if you want to watercool it, in which case you'll want to check which of the cards have water blocks available or in the works (I think at least EK is making an MSI Gaming Trio waterblock, not sure about any others for it or the Zotac ones). Also, warranty and other things may play a factor in your decision.

As for the adapter, keep it as straight as possible (at least for the first ~3-4 cm away from the card, a vertical mount may be helpful until 90° and 180° adapters from cablemod are available) and ensure it's inserted into the card completely (it will require a little bit of more force than 6+2 pins to fully insert) and it should be okay.

Thank you for your response and feedback. I might go for the msi gaming x trio as it has a 3 year warranty + ek does have a water block for it incoming , the Zotac trinity offers only 2 year warranty and has no water block for it. The local brick and mortar store gives me 30 day full warranty so that is a plus ( i will have a couple of days of research on this msi gaming x trio before giving it the green light and buying it ).

Sadly My new Fractal Design Pop Air XL pc case does not support vertical mount on it so it will be mounted horizontal. I will order one adapter from cablemod when available https://store.cablemod.com/12vhpwr-angled-adapter/ and also EK water block when available https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-quantum-vector2-trio-rtx-4090-d-rgb-nickel-plexi

Since it seems to me its a little too early to invest in a ddr5 system, current mem controllers for ddr5 suck,
instead I got rid of my 1440p screen, CPU bottleneck didnt feel pretty :p
    4k 240hz will do nicely :D

Probably not 10bit HDR, but 8bit SDR should be no problem at all.

That's a funny story. I downloaded the vBIOS from Gigabyte and got two versions, one Silent and one OC. I had the card in OC mode and tried flashing with the OC BIOS and got a BIOS Mismatch error. For fun I tried staring the Silent BIOS flash and that worked (I didn't go through with it though). I shut off my computer, set the card in Silent BIOS mode and tried flashing with the Silent BIOS, didn't work (same BIOS Mismatch error) but now the OC BIOS flash tool worked :D So, either Gigabyte messed up the TXT file with instructions or they switch BIOSes by mistake.

And now you're stuck with Proshop due to RMA right? You can't try Komplett for example (when they get cards in stock) and get a full refund later for your Strix?

Did that fix the fan issue ? :)

Yeah, too late for a refund... it's rma with proshop now, or nothing.

If only i could use headphones, but sadly i can't... makes this crap so much more difficult (long story which im not gonna share here)

I didn't flash as I wasn't sure if the BIOSes were correct or not :) But maybe I should trust the program rather than the TXT file?

That sucks :( And too bad you can't use headphones.

Edit - Proshop has 12 Strixes in stock!
