Last night some black squares suddenly flashed on my screen while browsing YouTube. After closing the browser they went away, that was until I I was navigating through some folders and noticed some white squares flickering on the sides of my monitor whenever I'd scroll. This was the first time I've seen that with this card and I don't see it now...Was it a fluke or is it common for artifacts to randomly come and go before the card s memory finally dies? I haven't overclocked the card and while gaming the max temp I've seen was 75C, but it's usually less than 70C.
I've seen a few reports of black squares that turned out to be a driver issue. Dying memory or GPU throw very different artefacts.
Had some of those myself and I also have a RTX 3080 (Gigabyte Gaming OC version). CPU is 5950x. Seems to be a driver issue indeed. I'm on the latest official version 496.49 and I use Windows 11 Pro and had some screen corruption while idling on the desktop. I use 2 monitors both DisplayPort 2560x1440 27" 144Hz.
Prior to seeing those squares I had just reformatted and installed the 496.49 driver. I haven't seen them while gaming, just that one time before posting this thread. Thanks for the replies.
Very same issue with suprim x 3070. Its a 1 year old already, and I saw this 3 times, so it is very rare. In my case are on desktop some squares black or white that flashing while moving the mouse, if moving very smooth I can trigger to make them stay on screen, if moving a bit they will dissapear or flicker. Always on top right screen, like 2 small squares, same position always.
I got a new 3060 12GB...it happened yesterday with a web-browser, and, my desktop wallpaper. Interesting to read of other 30XX issues, eyes on this please.
Are you on the latest release drivers (397.09 right now)? There was an issue with the drivers similar to what you're describing that was supposed to have been fixed a while ago. If you are on the latest version, perhaps use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to wipe all remains of video card drivers from your system and re-install the latest ones afterwards in cases some corpses from previous drivers are causing it. Perhaps it will help.
It's actually a brand new rig, new everything, and I was the one who installed Windows 10 onto it, even though Micro$oft wants me to have Windows 11 for free right now, much to my surprise.
I just experienced this today with my brand new 3070ti, installed 1 week ago Black squares while browsing the web and then on the windows desktop too, they seem to have gotten away after a restart Could it be just be a driver related issue or windows11 bug ? im using 516.59
I saw a few black squares on the top right corner of my monitor on my 3month old RTX 3080 Ti. I immediately rebooted system and those went away. I hope its not a hardware/VRAM issue, waited so long for this GPU. Did it reoccur for anyone ? EDIT : Driver 516.94
