Why is ordering one of these from NVIDIA so complicated?

I mean why don't they just take pre-orders and then allocate stock as they get it in, only charging customers near the despatch date? Seems to silly to have to try and jump ahead of everyone else before it goes out of stock again. At least that way the servers would not crash as there would not be any need to keeping hitting F5... not that I do that, of course. Ahem!

Just reading the GeForce forums. Some well angry people there. It definitely was impossible for them to sell plenty of cards in the time I was refreshing the page. No one on here has a FE card

Yeah, I keep checking Amazon but they only list 2080 Tis when I search for 'rtx 3080' (I wonder why...?).

That said, they will only be third-party cards anyway even if they had them and it is the Founder's Edition I want as it is a much more appealing and unique design (I feel all sad inside saying that, to be honest, once it goes inside the case then who really cares what the card design looks like?). Also, the Founder's Editions seems to the cheapest RTX 3080.

Don't know whether to just pre-order the ASUS TUF Gaming 3080 from EBuyer or not? It is still £650 and shows as available for Tuesday, 22nd September.

    Decisions... decisions...

I used the Notify option on the GeForce.co.uk site but never received any notifications that these cards were available to order. Pretty pathetic really. I'm sure NVIDIA knew this card would be popular so they should have had a better pre-order system as I detailed above (allow people to pre-order even if stock is not available then ship them out on a first come, first served basis).

Wouldn’t believe that 22nd September date, have learned that today with the FE release farce

Think I’m gonna get a cool beer and chill now. Another positive is that cash still in your bank and not in some companies bank while your waiting for stock for who knows when

In the Spain Nvidia site it was the same:

    F5
    Notify me
    F5
    Notify me
    F5
    Notify me
    F5
    Out of stock
    F5
    Out of stock

It was a totally fake launch. There´s no stock for anybody, except maybe 30 or 50 units for "special" countries, so there can be some youtubers who can claim they had a real one from Nvidia.

I've not seen a single commenter on any platform claiming to have successfully ordered a FE model.

So has anyone ordered a card that is going to be dispatched today, i.e. for delivery tomorrow?

I thought this card launched today, 17th, but it seems like it was just a paper launch after all. Disappointed. Shouldn't be but I blame NVIDIA for hyping it up and getting me all excited.

Why don't you want my money, NVIDIA????

Can anyone fill me in as to why they would want to hype a launch they aren't capable of supplying for?

I mean... if they were accepting pre-orders I'd understand it - but they haven't gained anything from the people who wanted one but couldn't get one.

Didn’t think of them not getting no money. Must be one of the most unsuccessful launches of all time. What a waste doing their online presentation.

I'm trying to register there now but it's taking a long time to get through the process...

    edit

The page keeps timing out. Sheesh.

    edit 2

Ok so I managed to sign up for Ebuyer. What is their RMA procedure like? With Amazon they just send out a guy to pick up the item.

All this explains why no RTX 3090 cards haven’t been seen anywhere for reviews etc. They say a picture is a thousand words, well remember in the Nvidia presentation, we all saw the bun in the oven being delivered. Must have already cut the umbilical cord from that 3090 before it came out. Arhhhh. Didn’t it look cute
