New RTSS beta is ready to be tested, we'll publish it soon.

RTSS 7.3.0 Beta 6 Build 21871 includes the following changes:

    - Multiple mapping and wildcards support for HwInfo and AIDA data sources. Now the same ovelay plugin data source can be mapped to multiple differently named AIDA/HwInfo sensors (e.g. package temperature on Intel CPUs or Tctl/Tdie on AMD Ryzen CPUs). Sample overlay layout is demonstrating this feature usage on importing HwInfo and AIDA CPU temperature and power sensors.
    - Various internal fixes in hypertext parsing implementation mentioned a couple posts above
    - Added new open source DesktopOverlayHost tool to SDK. DesktopOverlayHost is a simple blank borderless 3D window with adjustable size, position, transparency and chroma keying support. You can use it as a platform for displaying any 3D API hook based overlay right on top of your Windows desktop. Implementation is overlay vendor agnostic, so you can use it with RivaTuner Statistics Server, as well as with other third party overlays like EVGA Precision X1 and so on
    - Added ShowForegroundStat profile switch, which is allowing any 3D application to display foreground 3D process framerate and frametime statistics instead of application’s own ones. This switch is used by new DesktopOverlayHost tool profile to let it to display foreground 3D process statistics on desktop

RTSS 7.3.0 is pretty close to final state so I'm finalizing it and focusing on new MSI Afterburner version now. Today we launch the first beta with no major changes, but the end of summer is gonna be hot because both GPU vendors have something around the corner so I'll be updating MSI AB to support their new GPU architectures. So active development of 4.6.3 starts soon and we'll see more betas in August/September.

    MSI Afterburner 4.6.3 Beta 1 Build 15777 ( + RTSS 7.3.0 Beta 6) includes the following changes:

    - Added experimental support for Intel 10th generation CPUs
    - Added native NVAPI based implementation of absolute GPU power monitoring for NVIDIA GPUs
    - Altered synchronization mutex name for AMD SNM registers access in AMD Ryzen temperature monitoring implementation
    - Fixed abnormally high PCIE bus usage value monitored on NVIDIA GPUs after display driver crash and recovery or on Optimus platforms when discrete GPU is sleeping
    - Added workaround for AMD driver bug causing short display flicker during applying new fan settings on some multi-monitor or single monitor high refresh rate display configurations
    - Now MSI Afterburner is forcibly disabling Zero RPM when applying new fixed fan speed in order to bypass AMD driver bug preventing fan control from working when Zero RPM mode is enabled on some systems. If Zero RPM is working properly on your system and you still want to keep it enabled when adjusting fan speed, you may disable forcible Zero RPM override with power oriented switch in application configuration file
    - Now MSI Afterburner is displaying the minimum allowed fan speed in software fan curve editor window on Overdrive 8 capable AMD GPUs. The latest AMD drivers will not allow you to set fan speed below this limit, that’s by design of driver
    - AMD ADL components are loaded by absolute path now to prevent possible DLL hijacking
    - Tightened IO driver access policy, the driver can no longer be accessed by users with no administrative rights
    - RivaTuner Statistics Server has been upgraded to v7.3.0. This version introduces plugins architecture and brand new visual overlay editor plugin, we strongly recommend you to try it if you’re advanced user and want to customize your OSD beyond the possibilities of MSI Afterburner’s internal OSD layout editor

    Stay tuned!

Hilbert is currently busy so we’ll put it in downloads tomorrow ;)
And in meanwhile I spend time on myth-busting in CS:GO forum in discussions related to new Trusted mode in the game. New story about MSI AB pop up this time, now some pros claim that itis written in China and writes rootkit in MBR, heh:

OMG I love it !!! borderless window is perfect :)

From what I see it works on the principle that it shows frametime and FPS for the active window in OS.
    Works perfectly for window applications.

For applications in fullscreen mode (games) it works very well - sometimes I had to use ALT + TAB once or twice for DesktopOverlayHost to detect the game (fullscreen mode) as a source for the frametime and FPS graph.

It would be nice if there would be customized (color, position, etc.) indicator (process name e.g. iCUE.exe) telling for which application is currently displayed frametime and FPS.

DesktopOverlayHost is fully open source, so you can easily extend it with any additional functionality like displaying foreground process name.

Can this be done by hypertext in Overlay Editor? eg <APPID>, <ProcessID>, <GetProcessID> or something like that?

Nope, there is no such hypertext tag. It can only be formatted manually and send to OSD slot as plain text at software level.

There are a lot of questions in the net about new Valve's trusted mode for CSGO and RTSS. So I'll quote a question from this thread here, because it is getting much more visits and it will be quite useful for CSGO players:

RTSS hook DLLs are already signed during the last few years. The same apply to hook DLLs used by majority of other tools like generic NV overlay, Discord, various antiviruses etc, which are also blocked by trusted mode. "It will work as soon as it is signed, so it is up tho stupid third party devs to sign their tools" is plain wrong info that users keep blindly parroting in CSGO steam community forums without even trying to understand Valve's trusted mode FAQ. I tried to comment it in multiple threads there but it seem to be too hard to understand for majority of players there, so I gave up.
Reality is that digital signature doesn't matter for trusted mode. No third party modules (both signed and unsigned) are allowed to be injected in game process for trused mode. That's Valve's decision and only Valve can change that.
Normal mode (-untrusted command line switch) is a less restrictive mode where digital signature does mattter. In this mode injection is allowed but only for hook modules with authenticode digital signature. RTSS already works in this mode because it is already signed.
Insecure mode (-insecure command line switch) is the only mode where unsigned hook DLLS are allowed, but in this case you're also not allowed to play on VAC-secured servers. If some application you're using is unsigned and works in insecure mode only, but refuses to work in normal (untrusted) mode then (and only then) it needs to be digitally signed to get it working with normal mode too. But there are NO ways to make ANY hook DLL legally working in trusted mode with current Valve restrictions.

There were a few similar questions in comments of my previous videos, asking about displaying OSD on desktop. So DesktopOverlayHost helper tool has been added to RTSS 7.3.0 beta 6 SDK, it is very simple and completely open source blank 3D window renderer with adjustable size, position, background color and chroma keying support. You may use it to get an impression of "desktop OSD" and display any overlay in it including third party ones, because implementation is overlay vendor agnostic. This small video demonstrates you the key principles of DesktopOverlayHost usage:

    - Launching DesktopOverlayHost and configuring its window size/position
    - Displaying RTSS overlay inside DesktopOverlayHost
    - Configuring chroma keying and transparency
    - Making DesktopOverlayHost transparent for mouse input, so you may display it on desktop while still beeing able to access underlying icons
    - Using application profiles to disable OSD inside 3D application. This way you may keep DesktopOverlayHost displayed on your secondary desktop while playing in fullscreen on your primary desktop without beeing disturbed by OSD
    - Using DesktopOverlayHost to display third party overlays. EVGA Precision X1 as an example

Have to love these "experts" who make baseless claims and clearly don't understand at all what they are talking about. All they end up accomplishing is wasting your time having to reply to this trash

As a side note on CSGO trusted mode: yesterday (on July 23rd) Valve changed command line switch for enabling untrusted mode. Now it is -allow_third_party_software instead of -untrusted.

I've seen a couple of people on discord say that having afterburner opened is enough to make Forza Motorsport 7 crash, the game developers may have adopted the anticheat that horizon 4 uses and it may now need rtss hooking disabled.

Cannot confirm that. Finally got FM7 installed, it took almost 10 hours to download relatively small 99GB game, thanks to painfully slow Microsoft Store download server. I see no FH4-styled hook protection in the most recent build of FM7, it still starts fine with RTSS and displays OSD properly.

Interesting then, they must be misplacing blame and have something else involved.
