Considering that he quite honestly gave you the answer you need, such aggressive response is truly undeserved. If your system fails to install visual C++ redistributable package, it's either caused by your system (corrupted files, missing updates, etc.), 3rd party apps blocking the installer (typically wannabee anti-malware solutions), etc.

Besides this is not a support forum which is mentioned by Unwinder in like every other post so it is not like you were not warned several times :3

As much as i appreciate you helping ppl, i think you should just not bother, it'll save you energy, time and sanity to do your awesome project ! (trust me i know what gamers can sometimes be like)

And just to confirm on Control, that's absolutely nothing to do with RTSS, it stutters on DX12 by default and is quite easy to check just by going from one room to the other back and forth (assuming you find one that does this at all).
DX11 works just fine and is literally recommended to run for most users by the Control launcher (unless you run RTX you don't need DX12 executable). iirc DigitalFoundry did point out the stuttering on DX12 also in their Control RTX video.
Ppl should just investigate more before posting :(

It's really not that hard to fix vcruntimes.
    https://github.com/abbodi1406/vcredist/releases/
You can run it after a program that uses outdated runtimes installs over new ones. *cough* It'll uninstall the old ones and put the most up to date.

I also like to check installed programs with Geek Uninstaller just to make sure everything is up to date as you can hit F5 to see freshly installed entries highlighted.

No. And one more (countless!!!!) time: STOP using this thread for general bugreporting. Is it hard to read and understand?

I was planning to release RTSS 7.2.3 beta as final version (with small improvements related to injection cache mentioned here), but GoW5 release changed my plans. Now I spend the 3rd evening in a row playing the game with overlay enabled to test stability, thanks to all those "RTSS is reason of crashes" claims. So I'll release it a few days later, after completing the game. At least the game is not that bad, hehe.

We'll, it could be worse, I guess. You could be stuck with one of those visual novel porn games for weebs.

just so you know, i haven't been blaming RTSS for issues, just asking people to try without it to minimize anything that the driver could trip up on.

since it seems 436.30 has reintroduced a particular driver crash to gears 4/5

    haven't seen you in awhile.

thanks unwinder for gears 5 test because game run a 2-3fps at startup with rtss overlay active on my 1080ti i have windows store version but game is win32 executable. another problem with rtss crash after 1-2 minutes metro exodus in dx12 mode. i disable overlay and game is perfect. in dx11 dont have any problems. i have installed 150 games on my pc and there is the only 2 games that i must disable rtss overlay

Neither testing nor upcoming 7.2.3 will help you with that. No need to continue it in this thread please.

Ah, but what if it is another circumstance of the stale cache?

So far, it can either crash the app, or prevent screenshots from working. A performance issue isn't impossible

@PcMrRe88 open the rtss settings and scroll down, click reset cache.

Highly unlikely. Stale cache = wrong address in D3D/DXGI runtime is hooked instead of framebuffer presentation/creation entry point. That always results in all RTSS functionality related to the hook (OSD rendering, frame capture, framerate monitoring) completely stopping working and in all apps using affected 3D API stopping working as well (due to injecting hook in wrong address in D3D runtime).

I still cannot reproduce any stability issues with RTSS overlay in GOW5 while playing it almost non stop during the last few days (with end without Ultra textures, with HDR enabled and disabled), so I guess it makes no sense to delay 7.2.3 launch any longer because of that. Here is release candidate, most likely we'll launch it as official 7.2.3 a few days later:

    http://download-eu2.guru3d.com/rtss/[Guru3D.com]-RTSSSetup723Build20686.zip

It contains the following changes comparing to the previous 7.2.3 beta 3:

    - Improved function offsets cache validation algorithm in hooking system. The improvements are aimed to minimize the risk of cache corruption:
    - Now RivaTuner Statistics Server is zeroing all cached offsets prior to offsets reinitialization after detecting new DirectX runtimes installation
    - Now RivaTuner Statistics Server is forcibly resetting and rebuilding the cache during 3 subsequent application restarts after detecting new DirectX runtimes installation
    - Cache version has been incremented to force it to be reset on all systems
    - Updated profiles list

Thanks!, the reports of windows update crashing ffxiv and its textools are coming in often tonight since quite a few people decided to update today
i can just point them at the beta update now.

@Darren Hodgson can you try this update and see if the cutscene crashes occur?

Question: is possible to have other multipliers to scanline sync other than 2x, 1x and 1/2x? Like 1/4 and 3/2x? Or it is not possible/necessary?

    Thanks.

@Unwinder Sorry if I am asking something idiotic. Rtss is better to be used together with Afterburner? Or it should be used alone for better behavior? I use afterburner for custom fan curves. And in really low end machines, does it have any performance impact? Thanks.
