I had low profile keyboard for 5 year and never got used to it. Changed back to classical keyboard 2 years ago and feel like reborn again. Except i have Omron Romer-G and they have 3.8 mm travel distance. Cherry feels much better with 4.5 mm travel distance.

inb4 patent-war going to start soon in this mechanical switch

wonder if this new switch people making now improved much over original cherry mx switch
other than actuation-point to give faster response in gaming

i still think many pro-typist / coders will stay with hhkb/realforce-topre
even say latest gamer keyboard do have nice improvement, but again not yet proved for reliability/durability

Bottoming likely takes 3.8~4.0mm. (Judging from approximate button dimensions and space between flat keycap bottom and upper part of switch.)

Doubt it. There have been plenty of variations on the Cherry switch for quite some time now, and I don't think I've ever heard any rumblings of patent lawsuits being filed.

Doubt this will gain much traction in the enthusiast community, but at least it has the Cherry stem so people have some flexibility with their keycap choices.

Now every single fucker is releasing their own custom mechanical switch, because frack standards, let's better have our own switch so the poor bastard that buy from us will have to buy us again any time he needs to replace a switch or a keycap, and we can charge him whatever we want and he won't have a choice but to pay.

Yes because having Cherry in a monopoly position was so good for the consumer

no company was forced to NOT work with them design/patent wise.
and looking at the inconsistencies (quality/use/spec) between different switches from different brands,
using different color/names for their equivalent of an existing (cherry) switches, makes it worse.
with cherry i know what i get, then again the Outemu i tried was pretty good.

i remember giving a couple of cherry keyboards away, when i got a few of EOL desktops my fathers girlfriend had in her shops/offices replaced,
because they were so "loud" when typing. xD

Ducky is not US only, I bought mine on Amazon UK, plenty of other sites stock it in the UK too, here's one https://www.overclockers.co.uk/duck...ver-cherry-mx-switch-uk-layout-kb-225-dk.html

I went with Ducky For the great key caps and simplicity, Ducky just know how to make a great board. I don't need a volume roller either because I am using a tube pre-amp for my headphones that has a nice big analogue volume knob and it sits to the left of my keyboard, within easy reach.

English-only then. It's not available on worldwide market. And it's no point of buying keyboard with empty keys from abroad. That's not kind of hardware.
