Damn, CrapWorks strikes again. Tested with HairWorks and HBAO+ settings :(

Details: Max. Details, Pure Hair Very High, HBAO+ - PCGH-Benchsave 'Gipfelstürmer'

The game uses TressFx 3.0 which has little to 0 fps loss. It doesn't use HairWorks.

In the article it was mentioned that the actual pc version doesn't have any DX12 as of now, and while the Xbox did have AsyncCompute, the pc doesn't. However, they did contact Square Enix and they said, that the game will support DX12_1 features that as of now are only supported by nVidia Maxwell gpus.

Yeah, you are right. I misread that PCGH article.

Amd release a new driver for this game ? , probably runs bad on amd hardware, denuvo+nvidia gameworks=bad performance .

I have just cause 3 which is both nvidia gameworks title and uses denuvo and my rig delivers same performance as a gtx 980 at 1440p. I get between 57-65 fps on avg with every setting on max, with lowest fps recorded at 49 fps.

Well even for a nvidia amdcardsdontworks game, there is something seriously wrong here, a 390x slower than a gtx 780 or a fury x on the same spot of a gtx 780ti? I hope this is a matter of drivers.

I didn't expect THAT bad performance by AMD...

    Oh, god.
I hope a driver fixes this.
    Or patches.
    Or something.

    WTF

So.. a console version already supports asynccompute that works really good on AMD cards and works kinda meh on nvidia..but..they are gonna use something else instead that doesn't even work on amd atm....lol

It's worth noting that TressFX works great on both nvidia & amd unlike nvidia's hair...

    Feel the difference..yeah..

Nvidia is ruining this industry no doubt about that...

Not according to digital foundry.. they have seen awesome performance on the 970 and the 390

The patch might be on the way as mentioned in the article.

Btw... nvidia might have done it deliberately ..that's why their old gpu's are faster when everything is maxed out..Old trick when it comes to Huang..

Did they provide settings they were playing at?

86fps max for GTX980TI is kinda low, i was expecting at least 110. some tweaks and oc could easily achieve that, i'm sure AMD will release some kind of magic driver too.

They said they believe it is an implementation error, and a patch should be able to fix it.

''Wir gehen aber davon aus, das hier lediglich ein Parameter für die Transparenz im Nvidia-Pfad des Effekts falsch gesetzt wurde - ein Patch dürfte dies schnell beheben.''

As for the r9 390 vs gtx 970,

''The battle between the GTX 970 and the R9 390 is fascinating. With frame-rates unlocked and settings maxed at 1080p, the Nvidia card provides a 47.5fps average, matched up against 48.8fps on AMD - but it doesn't tell the full story. Some sections of gameplay see the GTX 970 pull ahead by up to 5fps, while interior scenes, cut-scenes and close-ups see the R9 390 dominant. The contest is even more interesting in that Rise of the Tomb Raider is known to use asynchronous compute - a hardware-level feature absent on Nvidia hardware and fully implemented on the R9 390.''

I guess we are going to have to wait. One says the game does have asyncompute and one says not.

I knew I wouldn't be able to "max" this game out on my current setup, but I have this game in my radar to play, and it could be the first to make me think about upgrading. I will keep an eye on this see how it plays out, my "don't buy games on launch" anymore seems to be working well for me.

AMD better have crossfire support and drivers by the end of today.

AMD really destroys itself with their poor and late support...look at fallout 4, still no crossfire profile.

As much as i dislike nvidia, i have no choice but to go with them for my next gpus.
