I read every post, with many mixed feelings, until I got to cucaulay malkin's post #88

Bugs in AC:V, WD:L, Crysis Remastered, COD:MW, Pumpkin Jack, as well as various multi-monitor problems. OK. I'm going to give AMD the benefit of the doubt and watch the driver forums, but, I'm not going to lie. It's really putting me off.

Nvidia's (huge) launch problem was sorted in a few weeks. Let's see how long it takes AMD.

Also, I would love to see all the benchmarks again on pure AMD system vs RTX3000 series. Nice reviews regardless.

Give me a cheaper 6800 with 8/10/12/14gb vram configuration and the best efficiency in the world like right now and I can live with it for 2020 until next generation of graphics cards arrives as I play 1440p only at the moment.

mixed feelings is what I have too
in the end I would never buy this for the same price as 3080.would have to be in the middle between 3070 and 3080.

if you go through reviews you'll find as many cases where it excells (1080p,but that's really a case of severe bottleneck which a card with higher clocks handles better than a compute card like ampere) as you'll find cases where it falls behind significantly.
in the end,if 3070 is 500 and 3080 is 700 this should be 600,which is where 6800 stands.

3060ti or 6700xt will do just fine at high refresh rate 1440p gaming. Maybe its worth waiting for those. Redgamingtech said there is a rumor 6700 have 12gb vram.

Don't get me wrong. AMD is back in the game. These cards are great but with wrong price tag. AMD tried Intel's recipe with Ryzen and got away with it. They cannot repeatedly taking action against consumers like this. They shouldn't try being Nvidia. They fought our wallet twice this year.

Got to agree with msrp. Specially in Canada msrp means absolutely squat. At one point earlier this year in Canada the 5700XT was 40$ CAD less expensive than a 2060 Super (normal price not on sale). Right now the 10900k is on sale for 750$ CAD on Newegg.ca (800$ on Amazon.ca) and the 5900x is 800$ on Newegg.ca. The price difference is supposed to be 50$ USD msrp which should be 65$ CAD. Important to note that before the 5900x was released the 10900k was not "on sale" and would likely not be "on sale" without the 5900x.

I wont buy before the middle of next year i'll wait for the craze to be down a bit and for new generation games to be reviewed. I don't care about the performance in old games i want to see Cyberpunk 2077 performance ;) Logically i should buy a 3070. But i wont be surprised one bit if in june of next year the 6800x retails for the same price as a 3070 in Canada which could very well change my decision in favor of AMD.

with so much power headroom they should absolutely do a 384-bit 6800

and they'll have to if rumors of a 3070Ti with 10G 320-bit are true.

Thank you that is good to know.^^
Already have beta bios with SAM support on my MSI Godlike,
looking forward to get a bios update with SAM support on my
    ASUS Crosshair VIII Formula too.
Just need to upgrade CPUs on both to 5000 series.

Still kinda want to try a RX6800 XT or 6900 XT next year for my
2nd PC when most have theirs and availability is normal.:)

The price is ok, however, that list of games with bugs isn't ok, I just can't see myself dealing with those kinds of issues, and that's just the ones we know about. I had it in my mind that AMD would excel with the latest games, I didn't think they'd be issues to go with that. Right now, this makes the driver situation with AMD even worse than what I thought. However, quick fixes would make them a non-issue. Let's see how long it takes...

    I can't believe this,but 3070 came out a winner here

beats all three at all resolutions in value
6800xt RT performance for $150 less, with dlss which means it's more than capable for 1440p RT on
    acceptable power draw levels

I do hope there's a 3070Ti coming with even better value and a 6800XL to counter.

The prices will get better over time , right now it's a bad time to buy as the limited stock is causing high prices , these prices are not where they should be , but if you know people will buy it no matter what as a seller you can increase the price and sleep well as you know right now it will just sell .

Problem is they have more or less than same AMD hardware so they wont be powerful enough to push real ray tracing that matters and then it will depend if companies are willing to push the boundaries for RTX cards. Most of the RTX games on the market right now don't look much better if any than shaders. Some of them like SOTTR are not even worth playing with ray tracing imo.

I really had high hopes for amd, shame they couldnt deliver the rt performance that nvidia can do, same as with dlss.

I just hope nvidia will get more in stock soon of the 3080 or either 3090, here in the netherlands these cards still dont exist @ least not in a normal way lol.

    Excellent review.

Question for Hilbert, out of curiosity, ever tried testing the RX 6800 series in Rage Mode?

When paired with Ryzen based Cpu/Mobo, there is some slight increase in performance.

Just curious if you ever tried it yet, if not, could you provide a review for it? Thanks

Yup, Raytracing/Dlss, nvidia wins due to Tensor/RT cores, other then that, pretty solid performance I would say, not kinda surprised at all when compared to the RTX 3xxx series.

    Again, great review.

Next one, the Grand Mac Daddie of them all, the RX 6900 XT...

What I don't like about TPU is value per dollar based on newegg price but they never actually list the price they saw it for (or estimated price when not available) at the time.

the problem for amd and rt is you can't do rt even with a 3080 at 1440p unless you've got dlss.
it's matching a 2080Ti,which is good for some, but out of those two you can only play RT enabled on the 2080Ti.Even a 2080 Super is gonna do much better since it supports dlss.

    amd need something.

    In UK;
    3080 is £750 to £900.
    A 3070 is £550 to £650.
The 6800 is selling at £520. Seems like a bargain to me.
