Nice review! First time posting, been prowling the site for years though lol.

Hilbert, wouldn't it be better if you redid the G1 Ti review with different OC software if possible? (Not sure if there are any other OC software that supports it yet other than OC Guru II)

Because its score is clearly inflated, not only in 3dmark, but all the games as well, it makes it look like the superior card when it clearly isn't. I think it would be fair to retest that card with Afterburner when/if it's possible.

It could even be the bios that's been tampered with, but that G1 that you have is clearly over performing for some reason. Gigabyte is playing the sneaky card!

On a side note, I pre-ordered the Galax Hof Ti in my country, excitement extreme! Will you be reviewing it in the future?

Not really, I have the G1 and without OC Guru installed at all it boosts to 1380/1367 mhz which already faster than any card so far. Even faster than this card. With OC Guru installed and OC mode enabled it boosts to 1418 mhz. It looks like OC Guru is applying a +38Mhz overclock on the core in OC mode. I don't think they are being sneaky, they are just applying an officially supported overclock.

I don't think its a bad thing, if it comes with the card it supported by the manufacturer 100%.

Could other G1 users kindly confirm this? Because officially it's clocked at 1190/1291mhz in OC mode

I have the distinct feeling you are Oj, who was banned. Pretty much the same IP region.

So again, the G1 Gaming review perf results stands as they are. I can measure over and over again (which I did), but the results remain pretty much the same. While I agree, there is an offset in perf that can run up-to 5%. It only happens when running OC mode and with OC Guru II software activated. Basically from what I have seen, the dynamic clock is going a hint higher creating some extra perf over the competition. Since the feedback was so harsh I simply decided to not include the G1 results for comparative materials. Also a new policy, we will no longer be running OC software for baseline results in the reviews anymore. We'll follow the original BIOS clocks. But I can tell you that from the feedback I got from Gaming G1 owners, they are happy people.

Anyway, this thread is not about the Gaming G1. So back on topic please.

What this review showed me is that the Gaming G1 is better than a superior spec card, which is why I was commenting on it. But it's fine, I'll not support them because it's irritating buying a card and not getting the performance that the media is getting for example. I'm excited for the Hof edition, they're proven to be among the best. And no I'm not Oj, will check the forums and see who you're talking about and why

Seems to me the Titan X and AMP! Extreme perform pretty much the same when you compare OC results. Titan X is still lot more expensive though :)

Hilbert it's no more accurate !!! (Q:"where are you from?" A:"where do you want me to be from?" lol).

very nice review, but wow what an impressive PCB, more than matrix card from asus.

and i have forget a bit of trolling "Does it beat a Fury X???" ((/me run and hide in an empty thread in order to not be :biggun: ))

Another awesome 980ti. Man these non-ref Ti's are leaving Fury X in the dust. From what I hear the Fury X non-ref cards (ie, MSI gaming) are sticking to ref clocks, so thats going to hit them pretty hard competing vs 980ti.

It's not the first time some cards Boost higher than the official boost spec, my gtx 760 also did that, my current Gtx 780 also does this.So its normal.

On topic: Great review, beefy looking card with awesome performance. The 980ti is really a great card overall.

980 Ti is more expensive and as most manufacturers make both Nvidia and AMD cards, making people buy 980 Ti seems better option business-wise.

Nice review HH, loving what Zotac did with the folded backplate, beautiful card and a great overclocker.

The base price of the ref cards is the same, $649. Non-ref cards may be a little more due to better parts, performance - thats expected. The bigger price differences probably have more to do with demand and availability. That will keep 980ti prices higher than usual vs Fury X for time being.

Out of all the 980ti's I've seen so far, this is easily my favourite.

Excellent for anyone looking for a single card, but for SLI there are better choices (dual slot vs triple slot cooler).

looks cheap and dull , they could done better gone with an orange black theme some orange stripes and fans with some orange led would go nice with the gigabyte orange and black motherboards , the best thing about it is the big factory overclock out the box no need mess around overclock it yourself i like that, but it do not have the wow factor like say an msi lighting and if your spend £600 you want something special

Triple slot cooling is too much. SLI that and you're amost completely blocked, Try to tri-SLI and you need a nonstandard case and a board with PCI 16x on all 7 slots. Quad-SLI impossible, but that is minor.

What a beast of a card! Great for guys looking to upgrade to 4K. I want to see these in SLI but that cooler is huge. Would be tight to fit into most MB setups.

980 Ti just looks better and better. Hope third party guys can apply what they learn here to the Fury X after a few months.
