It is November 15, 2018 and AMD today launched a new Polaris refresh GPU. Baked on 12nm the Radeon RX 590 has been born. In our review, we'll peek at the PowerColor Radeon RX 590 Red Devil edition. It...

Looks like AMD is at it again trying to make the hottest, lowdest, most power hungry low-mid end card they can. It's absolutely laughable that the power consumption is in the same range as the 2080 while being louder and hotter.

Card seems to still be horribly memory bandwidth starved, with the same exact memory limitations as both previous iterations of Polaris.

they are instock for omg 279 lol
I don't see the 1060 getting much closer in most titles even if ir had a busted titan core and hbm.
    1070 would cost you 90us more a vega 56 350us
for 300 the 590 is the smart choice but its just meh but good meh

still needs more power than a 1080 while being below a 1070.
i would rather get a 980ti cheap, or if 1440/up and /or higher IQ settings the 1070 for +60$ more is the better deal.

You say that as though you expected any different... It's literally just a binned 580.

Yeap, weird product indeed. Thanks for honest conclusion in review, this is not something worth recommending for the price.

I can imagine 580's will be going down in price. With that said and 590 around at 280$ its hard to recommend 1060 to anyone anymore.

$279 seems fair with the games bundle.

    $250 without the bundle.

So, significantly more expensive (MSRP), significantly more power consumption, to only 10% extra performance in most cases.

Either the street price will be much lower or I don't know who will buy this card compared to the much cheaper RX580.

I don't think they are selling 980 Ti anymore. It's two generations old.

I have the philosophical problem that I wouldn't want to cut my ROPs in half by getting a Polaris. Shaders and TMUs aren't as much cut down in comparison and are more than easily compensated by the clocks. But those ROPs...

Great review as always , thank you Boss. Not much has changed since the RX480 :/ , only a bump in core clocks. In my opinion they should it have gone with faster memory to help with an already bandwidth starve Polaris architecture. The pricing could have been better ~$240US dollars $260US Range. FYI you can find decent RX580 at ebay for ~$150US ;) . Also the RX580 and RX570 when properly cool and some home brew Bios flash will overclock ~1600/2000Mhz. This card is nothing to write home about , RX580 gets my vote if you are having to choose between this RX590 or RX580 .

Hmm, confident lead over the 1060 and almost reaching 1070 figures in some places just tickling it.

Can definitely tell the card is memory bandwidth starved though, some results just show no gains whatsoever over the 580 and that suggests it's memory related.

There are tough reviews and there are tough reviews - but I've never seen one conclude with "noisy pos"!

In my country, this card will go out for about 316e. There are rx580 8gb for 250e, which seems best option especially to play 1080p.

Seems weak. It is equal to my overclocked gpu.

1060 refresh with gddr5x is gonna beat it hard..

What pisses me off is how they (mis)used the "x90".
There used to be a marked difference between x80 and x90.

e.g. the R9 290 was 20-30% above a 280x - so the suffix was a clear distinction of performance... not this pathetic +6%
