In Portugal there seems to be a good stock of 4090s.

There are at least 3 stores that i know that have a few cards in stock.

Personally i find this curious, because a small an poor country like mine shouldn`t have so many cards this expensive in stock...

Overall, the GPU seems great, however I have 3 issues with it:

    1. Price. There is no secret that going from a 700 dollar 1080 Ti to a 1600 dollar 4090 is quite ludicrous. I will definitely wait for lower end cards and AMD.
I will probably wait till a GPU with this performance is at around 900 dollars.

    2. Power draw..? Derb8uer found out this GPU is almost identical in performance at 75%+ power draw. nVidia seems to be killing overclocking for its products.
That is a sign of more control that nVidia wants. That has never been a good thing in the past.
(Imagine this GPU running at 75% power draw, a normal sized cooler and 15% cheaper).

    3. Waiting with the other 4000 GPUs to sell this and 3000 series GPUs.

you cant tell the difference because you must be gaming on a 60hz monitor.

Some people can't tell the difference. Just like some can't tell the difference between DSD64 and 320kbps MP3. We're all precious unique snowflakes.

    Replying to highlighted part:

Its not NVidia killing overclocking, its them (and other mfrs) having better stability control at higher clocks.
They no longer need to ship GPUs with lower clocks to maintain stability in all use cases.
Their stability control algorithms now allow them to push the boundaries of the silicon further, what they release is much nearer the fastest it can go.

Yes it reduces our ability to overclock which I sorely miss cos who doesnt want to buy something that clocks way better than spec.
But thats life, those days are past.
Its the same with Intel and AMD CPUs, AMD Gfx cards ...
All mfrs have better stability control these days.

    Forgot to add...
They also are able to prevent GPU deaths from too high overvolting which is also a downside for overclockers who push the boundaries of cooling.
This keeps their costs down, not that it matters to us now as new release prices have gone mental.
But its become part of the design unless you get a Kingpin card or similar (now EVGA has gone).

That's my build ! (and my google drive link to download it) I added the hole genration and car spawning, added DLSS, created the menu etc.. hehe

Also added first person, created the rig system to have theplayer hands on the wheel and move properly when changing directions.

The moment I saw the menu, I realized it was your demo.
It's still the best compiled demo.

Yes and it will only get worse i'm afraid. Seems the 5090TI already has been leaked!

Fortunately my cosmos 2 case can fit a 570mm long gpu after being modded a bit - my 4090 strix practically looks small inside of it :p

    @Hilbert Hagedoorn

Chief I think would be interesting to have an undervolt article on one of those 4090s.
While it doesn't apply the same for every model might give us an idea how much we can push the efficiency.

You need a DX12 ultimate compatible computer (OS+GPU). And i do'nt know if AMD GPUs work as i haven't tested.

DX12 ultimate support needs to be added to win10. It's not natively supported like in win11.
If it still doesn't work, it means it's not compatible with DX12 compatibility implementation added to win10, it might not have some required features and doesn't successfully pass the compatiblity test at the start of the engine.
OR, Epic Games blacklisted win10 as soon as it requires DX12 Ultimate.

I did all the windows updates via... well... windows update. It didn't see anything I haven't added. How do I add it otherwise?

"After updating Windows 10 to a higher version than 2004, you have downloaded and installed DirectX 12 Ultimate on your Windows 10 computer."

If it still doesn't work it might come from a part of the engine code blacklisting win10 support as soon as DX12 ultimate is required, have no more clue than that.

It's compiled from the main development branch of the engine at the time, it might be rough on various edge case usage.

Nah I do have have it - checked via Xbox Gaming bar thingy, it's on there happily. No idea why your demo isn't working! Shame, really wanted to see it. Tried it on PS5 but would love it on my PC.
